Game Con Canada is the largest gaming expo in the country. With over 34,000 visitors in 2024, it is projected that 2025’s GCC attendance will reach over 40,000 people. With that many people walking the halls of the Edmonton Expo Centre from June 13-15, 2025, it is a perfect place to share more about Canadian indie games! We wanted to partner with the team at Game Con Canada and launch a contest to give away TWO FREE INDIE Booths for Canadian indie developers at the big event!
At GCC 2025, the Government of Alberta, with gaming laptops provided by MSI, is bringing the Alberta Ministry of Technology INNOVATION ZONE to the show floor, “GCC team is thrilled to announce the Alberta Ministry of Technology INNOVATION ZONE! Through collaborative efforts with the Alberta Government and MSI, we have secured 20 turnkey expo booths, specifically tailored to showcase the ingenious creations of these developers. These booths will not only serve as a vibrant stage for their games but will also feature a QR code readily accessible for attendees to scan, guiding them to the Game Con Canada Steam event.”
Last year, Game Con Canada brought a slew of indie developers to the show floor, and we hosted the 1st annual CGMagazine Game Con Canada Indie Game Awards! This year, we plan to run our second annual awards and want YOUR GAME to be a part of it. So what do our two lucky winners get?
Included with the Game Con Canada Indie Booth Prize:
- A FREE 10×10 turn-key custom booth, including a 42″ screen TV.
- Hardware is provided and must be used in the sponsored booth space. The hardware is a gaming laptop provided by MSI with standard 2025 gaming specifications.
- Inclusion in the GCC 2025 Steam Event, taking place June 13-15, 2025.
- Inclusion in the second annual CGMagazine GCC Indie Game Awards.
- FREE high-speed internet provided by TELUS.
- Power is included with the booth space.
- Four (4) Exhibitor All-Access 3-day badges, to be used for staff only.
- Invitation to the GCC Industry Night on Thursday, June 12th, 2025.
- Two (2) additional All-Access 3-day badges for personal use or to invite friends (Value: $216.00).
Now, what does this mean for you? Developers will get a chance to show off their game to nearly 40,000 gamers during the 3-day event! Let players go hands-on during Game Con Canada, have them wishlist your game, or even buy it through Game Con Canada’s Steam Event! You could have your game featured on CGMagazine, which is syndicated across Yahoo, MSN News, Google News, Apple News and more. Winners will also be included in the Game Con Canada Steam Sale, which garnered almost one million impressions in 2024.
Below are some details that our lucky winners should keep in mind.
The Exhibitor agrees to:
- Use the booth space exclusively for the promotion and display of its video game(s) and related materials.
- Abide by all Event rules, regulations, and policies provided by GCC.
- Maintain the booth in a safe, clean, and professional manner throughout the Event.
- Provide its own staffing necessary to operate the booth.
- Have a playable demo for attendees to play at Game Con Canada 2025.
- Announce the studio’s participation in GCC 2025 on its social media platforms.
- Preferably have a Steam developer account to allow customers to add the game to their wishlist during the GCC 2025 Steam Event if the game has not been released (not mandatory).
- If the game is already published and for sale, the studio is strongly encouraged to provide a discount on their existing game for the GCC 2025 Steam Event (not mandatory).
- As a GCC exhibitor, your studio will also be included in this year’s GCC Steam Sale.
- Cancellation policy:
- Withdrawal from Participation. Upon applying, the applicant acknowledges and agrees that their participation in the event is mandatory. If the applicant cancels before April 25, no penalty will apply. However, in the event of cancellation on or after April 25, the applicant shall be responsible for the full cost of the sponsored booth, totalling $550.00 CAD plus applicable GST, which shall be due and payable in full.
