James Ransone Tributes, Hollywood Colleagues Leave Touching Remembrances For IT, The Wire Actor

Earlier in the week, actor James Ransone (best known for IT: Chapter Two and The Wire) tragically passed away, and Hollywood colleagues are speaking out in support of the actor.

According to The Guardian, James Ransone passed away at the age of 46 by apparent suicide. News of his death prompted a state of mourning on social media from fans and his colleagues on the various productions he was a part of. Among the Hollywood colleagues, Spike Lee, who directed Ransone in Inside Man (2006) and Red Hook Summer (2012), paid tribute with a social media post on Sunday, stating, “Rest In Peace To My Dear Brother, MR. JAMES RANSONE,” he wrote on Instagram. “We Rocked Together On RED HOOK SUMMER And INSIDE MAN.”

Wendell Pierce (who acted alongside Ransone in The Wire) wrote, “Sorry I couldn’t be there for you, brother,” on his official X account on Sunday. Madeleine McGraw, who starred with James Ransone in The Black Phone (2021) and its sequel, shared a tribute on her official Instagram Story saying, “I’m struggling to put into words the profound emptiness I’m feeling since learning of James Ransone’s passing. My heart is absolutely shattered.”

Jamie McPhee, the late actor’s wife, left a heartfelt memorial on her official Instagram, saying, “I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again. You told me – I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me – and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts – you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”

A GoFundMe link has been shared on McPhee’s social media profile, which was created to help the mother of two and her children “navigate life after an unimaginable loss.” The fundraiser page detailed, “Its purpose is simple: to give Jamie the space to focus fully on Jack and Violet, to care for them, protect their sense of security, and ensure they have a bright future—even without James’s light present in their everyday lives,” and as of this post, the GoFundMe has reached over $40K.

Readers should know that if you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, support is available 24/7 by calling or texting 9-8-8, where help can be found in Canada.
