Killing Floor 3 Delayed Until an "Undecided Date" in 2025

Killing Floor 3, the sequel to the gory, chaotic shooter series, was scheduled for release in just over two weeks on March 25, but developer Tripwire Interactive has decided to delay the game to an unspecified date.

“After taking the time to gather and discuss feedback from our recent closed beta, we’ve realized that we missed the mark,” says an update from Tripwire. “Our goal isn’t just to make Killing Floor 3 an ambitious step forward for the franchise, but also to maintain the core experience that you’ve come to know and love.”

Recently, there had been some feedback from fans about the state of Killing Floor 3 during its closed beta, with reports of poor performance, among other issues. This even led the developer to cancel a livestream set for Feb. 27 in order to address concerns.

According to Tripwire, that beta feedback ultimately led to the decision to delay the game. The studio notes that with the “full support” of its publisher, Embracer Group, it is creating a timeline to directly address issues, including “performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel.”

Interestingly, while Tripwire has not provided a new release date, it seems the work needed to fix these issues might extend beyond launch.

“While it’s too early to say which fixes will be implemented by launch, we can confirm that an update allowing you to independently select your perk class and character is planned for post-release,” says Tripwire.

Killing Floor 3 is a first-person survival horror game that follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. Four players cooperate to survive waves of zombie-like creatures called “Zeds,” using a variety of weapons and abilities based on the specialist they choose. Some of the major changes in the third game include a fully revamped specialist system, more dynamic enemies, expanded movement options and the addition of environmental traps.

Killing Floor 3 is set for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
