Lenovo Is Refreshing Its ThinkPad Line With More AI Power and a New ThinkStation

A Whole Lotta Thinkin'

Lenovo Announces New AI-Powered ThinkPad and ThinkStation Computers

Lenovo announced four new computers today, each one designed for better AI performance.

Lenovo introduced three new laptops for its ThinkPad line, coming later this month: the X13 Gen 7, the L14 Gen 7, and the L16 Gen 3. They also announced the ThinkStation P4 desktop PC, which will be available later this summer. Each of these new pieces of hardware features AI-enabled performance and more advanced AI processing.

ThinkPad X13 Gen 7

Lenovo’s goal with the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 was to create a laptop that balances great performance with low weight to make mobility easier for users on the go, while maintaining strong AI support. The X13 Gen 7, starting at 2.05 lbs, can be Intel- or AMD-powered, with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors or AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors. It’s also optimized for mobile communications with a 5MP IR camera, Wi-Fi 7 support, and optional 5G connectivity. The ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 will be available this month with an estimated starting price of $1499 USD.

ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 3

The goal with the L series laptops was simpler than the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7: higher-performing laptops that can keep up with today’s business demands, at a lower price point than the X13 Gen 7. Both L series laptops can be powered with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors or AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors, and also have 64GB2 DDR5 memory, up to 2TB2 SSD storage support, 5MP RGB and IR camera options, Dolby Atmos audio, and Wi-Fi 7 support

The ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 will be available later this month with an estimated starting price of $1439 USD. The L14 features a 14-inch screen, while the L16 has a larger display, presumably at 16 inches.

ThinkStation P4

Lenovo Announces New Ai-Powered Thinkpad And Thinkstation Computers

Lenovo’s big sell for its new ThinkStation P4 is that it is the first PC workstation in the world to offer processing power, AI computation power, advanced liquid cooling, and long-term expandability. The ThinkStation has 256GB of DDR5 memory and uses an AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 Series processor, with a choice of an NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition GPU or an RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation Edition GPU, and liquid cooling to help run even the most demanding programs as quietly as possible.

The ThinkStation P4 is protected by Lenovo ThinkShield security technology, and for long-term modifications, the ThinkStation supports PCIe Gen 5 and features four expansion slots, with up to six total drives of hybrid storage that combine M.2 Gen 5 SSDs with high-capacity HDD options. The ThinkStation P4 will be available in select markets starting in June and will be fully available in North America this August. The price will be announced closer to launch.
