The previously announced live-action Yakuza: Like a Dragon series, ordered by Amazon, will debut on the service with its first three episodes on Thursday.
As of the time this story goes live, fans will be able to watch the first three episodes of the new live-action Yakuza: Like a Dragon series on Prime Video. These episodes will go live on Thursday, October 24, at 11 a.m. EST, allowing fans to experience the SEGA series like never before. The live-action series can be watched in its original Japanese language (with available subtitles) or with an English-dubbed voiceover.
Given that the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio game series continues to release new titles within the Yakuza universe—most recently Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which received a strong critical reception—a live-action series directed by Masaharu Take and Kengo Takimoto feels like a natural next step. Fans can get a preview of the series, including a first look at Ryoma Takeuchi’s portrayal of protagonist Kiryu Kazama, in the trailer below, just in time for today’s launch.
With the first three episodes launching today, the live-action Yakuza: Like a Dragon series will release its final three episodes on Halloween, October 31. While based on the video game series of the same name, the live-action adaptation will shift between two time periods, 1995 and 2005. The 1995 timeline explores the protagonist Kiryu Kazama’s introduction to the Yakuza underworld, while the 2005 timeline begins where the game series starts, featuring a fully indoctrinated Kiryu as he exits prison, mirroring the events of the first Yakuza title (also known as Yakuza Kiwami).
Fans can start watching Yakuza: Like a Dragon today on Prime Video.
