A Legendary Partnership

Magic: The Gathering Opens a New Universe, with TV and Film Projects in the Works

On Thursday, Hasbro Entertainment announced an epic team-up with Legendary Entertainment to open new Magic: The Gathering planes in Film and Television.

Hasbro Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast have teamed up with Legendary Entertainment to bring Magic: The Gathering to the silver screen, and notably, the announcement is completely separate from the previously announced (in September 2024) Netflix anime series in the works. Although both TV and film projects have been announced, the team-up’s first project will be in film. Legendary Entertainment’s past work on adapting fantastical properties for film (Dune, Godzilla vs. Kong), and Magic: The Gathering‘s decades long history after it’s creation in 1993 appear to be a match-made in heaven.

Magic: The Gathering has inspired decades of epic world-building and creative storytelling. It appears it’s now Magic: The Gathering‘s turn to jump from the table to the screen.

Aside from the exciting initial announcement, Hasbro Entertainment has kept their cards close to their chest regarding any further details regarding the new film, so fans will have to wait for Hasbro or Legendary to reveal more details. Fans can check out more MTG news on the official website.
