Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - New Mechanics, Artwork & Where To Find Them!

Since its big reveal at NYCC 2025, Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been teasing fans leading up to release, and today, WOTC revealed all the details.

Now that Lorwyn: Eclipsed has been fully released, Wizards of the Coast has set its sights on the future. As 2026 continues, Wizards of the Coast continues to generate unseen excitement for Magic: the Gathering. While the Universes Beyond – Final Fantasy set is the best-selling set of all time, and Lorwyn: Eclipsed is still holding regular events at local game stores, WOTC looks to the future Universes Beyond set, Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Like every other main set release, MTG | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles introduces new (and returning) mechanics to the tabletops of Magic: the Gathering. While previous set spoiler seasons have given fans a taste of what the bonus sheet would look like, WOTC’s reveal today is all heroes in a half shell, and its bonus sheet is called Source Material (picking up where MTG x Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s release left off). Introducing new mechanics, returning card effects, and multiple art treatments for cards and where to find them!

Magic: The Gathering – New & Returning Mechanics in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Alliance – This is a returning keyword from the previous Streets of New Capenna MTG set (also referred to as ‘creaturefall’), which triggers every time a creature the card’s owner controls enters.

Disappear – A new keyword that triggers during the end step if a permanent has left the battlefield under your control that turn (regardless of method). This ability can activate on your opponent’s turns as long as the Disappear condition is met.

Mutagen Tokens – This new-to-MTG Artifact Token allows players to pay one uncoloured mana and tap and sacrifice the artifact to put a +1/+1 counter on a target creature. Like Edge of Eternities Lander Tokens, these involve sacrificing itself as an additional cost to activate.

Sneak – This is an updated version of the “Ninjutsu” keyword introduced in Betrayers of Kamigawa back in 2005. Where the keyword previously had restrictions (Ninjutsu was required to have been played from the hand to activate), Sneak removes these limitations and includes instant cards alongside creatures. To use Sneak, an attacking creature needs to be unblocked, then players can cast a card for its Sneak ability by putting the unblocked attacking card into the player’s hand and paying the Sneak cost.

Class Enchantments – Introduced to Magic: the Gathering with the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set in 2021, Class Enchantments are a subtype of enchantment that provides a stronger static ability for the controller once its level requirements are achieved. So far, WOTC has revealed the blue-coloured Ninja Teen class, but a whole cycle of five classes has been announced.

Magic: the Gathering x TMNT has also given each of the TMNT a variant for each rarity this time around, allowing each turtle to have four variants in common, uncommon, rare and mythic treatments, complete with signature flavour text pulled from TMNT lore.

On top of keywords, Magic: the Gathering x TMNT has brought a suite of new cards to tabletops that have different colour identities, but embody the spirit of older cards while inserting TMNT flavour. Improvised Arsenal includes the effect of Cranial Plating, with signature flavour text straight from Casey Jones’ mouth and a new effect stapled to it (allowing players to copy artifacts). Mutant Chain Reaction is a one-mana cost-more Atraxa’s Fall, but gives the player a Mutagen Token for TMNT synergy. It’s worth mentioning every card in the set has TMNT flavour text added, immersing fans into the tabletop of MTG, and the universe of TMNT at the same time.

Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Special Card Treatments And Where To Find Them!

Magic: The Gathering did not hold back on collectibility with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe’s Beyond set. There are numerous card treatments to collect in the TMNT base set, as well as in the pre-constructed Commander Deck and Source Material Bonus Sheet. Like the rest of Universe’s Beyond (starting with MTG Final Fantasy Through The Ages), the Source Material bonus sheet will adapt artwork from the annals of TMNT history and slot this artwork into the frame of a borderless Magic: The Gathering card.

Usually, pre-con Commander Decks are launched alongside more options (Aetherdrift had two, Tarkir Dragonstorm had five, referred to as a “biodome”), but considering TMNT has one pre-con called Turtle Power! 43 unique cards for that commander deck can be found in the pre-con itself. These cards embody the many video games the TMNT heroes have been in, and return some fans to the excitement of seeing that health-restoring pizza box.

Further embodying the spirit of the NES titles, the Borderless Pixel treatment can be found exclusively in Collector Boosters as well (in only a Surge Foil treatment), hearkening the TMNT faithful back to the difficulty of swimming through seaweed. Interestingly enough, Electric Seaweed was admitted to be the first card crafted for Turtle Power! deck, showing other fans they get it. Baxter, Fly in the Ointment, is yanked straight out of the boss fight on the arcade cabinet from TMNT: Turtles in Time, and is featured in the deck alongside Electric Seaweed and Ninja Pizza.

Finally, returning after being introduced in the Duskmourn: House of Horror set (and having card treatments in nearly every set since) are the Japan Showcase cards that come in a borderless treatment. While a limited amount of these will be found exclusively in Collector Booster packs, only two of the cards have been revealed so far. All of the treatments revealed so far (and where to find them) can be found in the table below. (It’s worth noting the Pizza Bundle comes with one Collector Booster pack).

Finally, ending the specialized treatments for Magic: the Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the headliner, Kevin Eastman’s signature artwork foils. Each headliner card features original artwork from the creator of TMNT himself, Kevin Eastman, and these cards only come in English print (but can be found globally) and in Collector Booster packs.

With many cards in the set, and the product list revealed, WOTC has also revealed a price point for each product coming to the Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they’re listed below.

  • Play Booster: $6.99
  • Collector Booster: $37.99
  • Commander Deck: $69.99
  • Bundle: $69.99 – This is the standard bundle with nine play boosters, a TMNT-themed spindown die, 15 traditional foil basic lands (with 5 featuring full art rooftop basic lands) and 15 non-foil basic lands (with 5 featuring full art rooftop basic lands).
  • Pre-Release Pack: $37.99 – Includes six play booster packs, one small spindown TMNT die and a single sleeved foil rare/mythic rarity card (these replaced the previous date-stamped cards that typically come in the pre-release packs).
  • Pizza Bundle: $99.99 (launches March 27, after the main set) – Acts as the TMNT set gift bundle, includes nine play booster packs, a special TMNT spindown die, and a collector booster pack. It’s all wrapped up in a special pizza-shaped box, designed to store Magic: The Gathering cards.
  • Draft Night: $119.99 – Includes 12 play booster packs and one collector booster pack as a prize for who wins Draft Night. The Draft Night bundle gives a group of four the ability to jump into a pick-two draft-format game series.
  • Team-up: $49.99 – This is a new product designed specifically for Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it features cooperative gameplay. Team-up can be used as a fun team-up for two-four friends to battle the NPC-controlled deck filled with Shredder and his minions (and some boss fights). Regardless of MTG experience, this product is designed to also teach newcomers. There will be 29 new-to-MTG cards featured in Team-up, and some cards featured in Team-up are designed to work with a teammate, giving them a way to buff friends like previous group hug mechanics in Commander.

The rest of the cards (with their specific treatment labelled) revealed on Tuesday’s livestream can be seen below.

Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will launch on March 6, with the Pizza Bundle launching a little later on March 27. Fans can check out the WOTC website for more information on LGS events near you featuring TMNT.
