Nintendo has surprisingly released a new update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (not Mario Kart World) that sees the whole living room get in on the action.
Although it isn’t the newest game in the franchise and it has been on the market for over 10 years, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still in the headlines. This time, Nintendo deploys a new update that changes the way the game plays on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Interestingly enough, this update is not available for the native Mario Kart World, just the previous title release. Anyone who has run out of content in the latest title (considering it has been out for over a year) can find new tidings in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, now on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version 4.0.0 is out now and free to download on Switch 2. The update includes a myriad of improvements that take advantage of the more powerful Switch 2 hardware, and even leverage some of its functionality to the racing title. The biggest new feature added to the racetrack is the expansion of local multiplayer from four split screens to eight. This functionality is made even more impressive when it can be done in handheld mode, and it can be done.
The usual Nintendo Switch 2 update enhancements have also been added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, including sharper visuals and quicker load times. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will also now support CameraPlay for online races for players who have a compatible USB camera. Aside from the update, fans have taken to Reddit to complain that Mario Kart World has been forgotten. Fans share similar sentiments, and one puts it plainly: “This is not the Mario Kart I expected an update for.”
With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version 4.0.0 out now, fans can invite nearly the entire family over for split screen chaos, but just make sure you have the right Mario Kart booted.
