On Wednesday, NetEase Games and the developers of Marvel Rivals celebrated online as the new hero-based PvP title reached 20 million players.
NetEase Games released Marvel Rivals just under two weeks ago, and the hero shooter has already seen significant success. So much so that NetEase Games announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the free-to-play 6×6 PvP title has attracted an impressive 20 million players since its launch. To thank the players, NetEase is offering a free reward to all users who log in to the battleground between December 20 and January 10. The celebratory post can be viewed below.
The free reward is an in-game spray paint commemorating the 20-million-player milestone. Notably, 10 million of those players joined Marvel Rivals within the first three days of launch. The release version of Marvel Rivals features 33 playable characters, eight maps, and four game modes for players to enjoy. NetEase Games shows no signs of slowing down, as the game has already announced its first holiday event.
The upcoming Marvel Rivals winter event is set to begin on Friday, Dec. 20, coinciding with the free spray paint reward giveaway. The Winter Celebration event will introduce a new limited-time 4v4 game mode called “Jeff’s Winter Splash,” themed around breakout Rivals character Jeff the Land Shark. Although the winter event has not gone live yet, fans only need to wait two more days to dive into holiday-themed 4v4 battles in the spirit of seasonal cheer.

The winter-themed event will also introduce new skins for five playable heroes, including Jeff the Land Shark. Venom channels his inner abominable snowman with a frosty winter skin, while Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Magik are all dressed festively for the occasion. Fans can jump into the frosty fisticuffs when the event begins on Dec. 20. Those seeking more details can visit the official Rivals website for additional information.
