Marvel Rivals, A New 6v6 Team Based PvP Shooter Has Been Announced

After a few weeks of teases and leaks, Marvel has finally ripped the band-aid off and announced Marvel Rivals, a new 6-versus-6 PvP team-up title that puts the super in superhero shooter.

Marvel has dared to break the mould with their offerings, and today, with NetEase games, they’ve announced Marvel Rivals. It is a title that brings the chaotic nature of teaming up with a band of superheroes to the PvP forefront. Unlike the previous Marvel Ultimate Alliance series of games, Rivals features only PvP, which is similar to other hero team shooters like Overwatch 2. The action-packed trailer can be seen below, and eagle-eyed fans might be able to spot many of the roster additions.

Marvel Rivals Producer Stephen Wu said, “We are overjoyed to bring Marvel Rivals to players around the world. We have always loved Marvel’s universe and its characters, and we are so excited to be developing this game,” with “This is the game we want to make, and we feel very lucky to be the team who made all of this come true” keeping the mantra of making a game the producers themselves want to play.

Senior Vice President of NetEase, Inc., Ethan Wong, said, “NetEase Games is excited to collaborate with Marvel Games to deliver a thrilling, fast-paced cooperative gameplay experience featuring all of your favourite Super Heroes,” satisfied with the partnership with Marvel Studios.

A new dynamic team-up option will be a major gameplay factor, such as the ability to ride Groot’s back as Rocket Racoon or hit Iron Man with Gamma radiation as Hulk to power up his armour, and much more. Environments have been noted to be entirely destructible, so while running around looking for enemies, sometimes it can be faster to go through obstacles than around them.

While no other information regarding Marvel Rivals has been announced yet aside from NetEase announcing a pre-alpha playtest for May, fans can head over to the full Marvel post on Rivals for more info. CGMagazine will keep readers updated on how fans can participate in the alpha playtest when it is announced, so stay tuned!
