Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, is set to launch in just a few short weeks. But as already suspected, fans will have to wait a bit longer to play the game’s new online multiplayer mode, called Fox Hunt.
Konami has quietly said Fox Hunt will released after the game’s August 28 release date, with a current release window of Fall 2025. That detail didn’t come from any kind of official announcement, but a simple update on the website for the remake.
Fox Hunt is a brand-new mode for the remake, and not simply a remaster of the previous Metal Gear Online mode. The first look we had at the mode was back in June with a two-minute trailer that only gave us a very brief look at Fox Hunt.
But the site does at least give a bit of description on how Fox Hunt will utilize central elements of the base game, including “camouflage” and “survival.” Here’s what it says.
“Based on the Sneaking rule from METAL GEAR ONLINE – Utilizes the fundamentals of one of the popular game rules from METAL GEAR ONLINE and the sneaking gameplay elements iconic to the METAL GEAR series, and the latest graphical enhancements that amplifies the tension of hide-and-seek to a whole new level.”
Delta is a full-blown remake of MGS 3, refining the graphics and gameplay while keeping the story, and voice acting, exactly the same. Set in 1964, Snake Eater is a prequel to the original MGS, focusing on a FOX operative codenamed Naked Snake. The remake adds in gameplay additions from later games, like crouch-walking and using firearms in third-person.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
