Metal Gear Solid V Ships 5 Million Units

Metal Gear Solid V Ships 5 Million Units - 2015-10-30 06:51:38

The results from Konami are in for the fiscal Q2 and it gives some insight into what is going on at the developer/publisher. Konami made 12.3 billion yen in Q2 helped by Metal Gear Solid V, Pro Evo Soccer, mobile and amusements. They have also managed to give insight into what they have planed for the next year.

Other then Winning Eleven 2016 there is nothing coming out to North America for the fall or any of 2016. This does look like Konami is not making any major plans for new titles to hit North American shores. Not surprising considering how Konami has been acting towards shipping AAA releases as of late.

The most notable sales for Konami this Q2 would be Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, shipping 5 million units. Compare this with Metal Gear Solid 4, that shipped 6 million units for the life of the game and that is showing strong interest in the Metal Gear franchise. They have not released information on how much profit that one game made for them though, so it is possible the cost to produce and promote makes it a loosing proposition.
