On Wednesday, it was found that Nintendo added Metroid Prime 4 Beyond to its website, and this is what is known about the fourth instalment so far.
It has been eight years since Metroid Prime 4: Beyond entered development, and on Wednesday fans found that the title has been officially added to the Nintendo website under the Metroid banner. Before the addition, the Nintendo website only had the previously released Metroid Dread, Metroid Prime Remastered and a slew of handheld and vintage titles gracing the page of Aran, but the addition of Prime 4 continues to remind fans of its existence, considering the eight-year development time, and it’s the only title on the page yet to be released.
The latest trailer for the fourth instalment can be seen below, as it was released at the Nintendo Direct 2024 after Summer Game Fest.
Since the trailer above was released, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and mentioned nothing else regarding the upcoming fourth entry in the Prime series. However, with eight years of development under its belt, this is everything to get fans caught up to speed on Prime 4.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Everything Known So Far

- Since being announced in 2017, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond restarted development after its first two years under Bandai Namco, with Retro Studios taking over production duties. At that time, Retro Studios appointed former Halo developer Kyle Hefley as the lead character artist for the studio, and former Sony Santa Monica designer Jon Marcella, who developed environments for God of War 2018.
- Although Metroids have gone extinct after the events of Super Metroid, the trailer above shows that there are at least two survivors left, and they’ll likely be a big part of Prime 4.
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption ended with the bounty hunter Sylux (introduced in Metroid Prime Hunters) chasing Samus Aran in the secret ending. This sequence remains open-ended, so Sylux could become a huge plot point in Prime 4, especially when he seems to appear alongside the two Metroids in the only trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
Aside from the other facts that Samus Aran can use previous signature powers (like the Morph Ball and Missile Launcher), news about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still incredibly sparse. Fans can check out the new listing on the Metroid page on Nintendo’s website to check it out.
