During today’s Minecraft LIVE, Mojang Studios unveiled a list of upcoming Minecraft content for throughout the year, including The Copper Age, Mounts of Mayhem, and Marketplace DLCs.
As Minecraft continues to thrive in its 16th year, Minecraft LIVE returned this month to announce plenty of new content arriving throughout the year. As players return to the beloved sandbox title, each of the upcoming content updates brings new tools, weapons, blocks, and more, including The Copper Age and Mounts of Mayhem updates, as well as marketplace add-ons such as Friendly Fishing and the Dragon Ball Z x Minecraft collaboration.

Released in May 2009, Minecraft is a survival sandbox title where players embark on an adventure in a world of infinite creativity. Whether playing alone or with friends, the game offers two unique modes: Survival Mode, where players travel across lands to fight monsters and gather items to take on the Ender Dragon, and Creative Mode, where players can craft anything they can imagine with unlimited resources.
Kicking off the Minecraft LIVE, the first major update announced is The Copper Age. Releasing on September 30, the update massively expands Copper’s usability, as it allows players to craft it into tools, weapons, armours, lighting resources, and more. In addition to the Copper’s usability being expanded, new items outside of Copper will be available, and previously released items will be revamped. The features included in the upcoming drop are:

- Copper Golem – Summoned using copper and carved pumpkins, the Copper Golem helps organize the user’s base by removing items in the Copper Chests and sorting them based on their type into chests around the base.
- Copper Chest – Summoned with the Copper Golem, players drop items into the Copper Chest for the Copper Golem to sort them into normal chests.
- Copper Golem Statue – Once fully oxidized, the Copper Golem will become a statue, but can be reawakened by using an axe to scrape the patina.
- Copper Golem: Poses – As the Copper Golem turns into a statue, it strikes four unique poses. The poses can be changed by interacting with the statue.
- Copper Golem Statue: Redstone – Paired with a restone, the Copper Golem Statue can emit signals based on the poses.
- Copper tools and weapons – With a durability between stone and iron, Copper can be transformed into tools, weapons, and armour without oxidizing.
- Copper armour – Being stronger than leather but slightly less than iron, Copper can be crafted into armours for the players and horses, featuring a copper helmet, copper chestplate, copper leggings, copper boots, and full copper horse armour.
- Shelf – With shelves, players can display up to three items to swap in and out with their inventory. However, shelves powered by redstone can swap all three items at a time in the player’s hotbar. Lastly, players can swap out more items when the powered shelves are placed next to each other.
- Oxidizing lighting rods – Lighting rods will now oxidize, transforming from orange to bright green over time.
- Copper lanterns, torches, chains, and bars – Players can craft copper lanterns and torches to light up the base and mines, and copper chains and bars to spice up their builds.
- New dye art – The dye art icons have been revamped, featuring different shapes for each dye to make them easier to identify for accessibility.
- Iron Golem and Copper Golem interaction – The Iron Golem will gift a flower to the Copper Golem for it to place on its own head.
Following the announcement of The Copper Age, Mojang Studios teased the features that will be arriving in Minecraft’s fourth drop, Mounts of Mayhem. Releasing in Holiday 2025, the update introduces a new weapon for players and mobs to wield, and mounts to enhance underwater exploration. Alongside the new mounts, Zombie Horse is being added to the Survival Mode after years of being exclusive in the Creative Mode. The features teased during Minecraft LIVE are:

- Spear – A new weapon for hand-to-hand combat and mounted combat. The damage of the spear is based on the speed of the player wielding it.
- Nautilus – A new mount for players to explore underwater with a speed boost while preserving the player’s air supply. It can be tamed using a pufferfish.
- Zombie Nautilus – Although neutral, the trident-wielding Drowned will often be riding the Zombie Nautilus, ready to cause havoc.
- Nautilus armour – Found in chests, Nautilus can be equipped with copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite armour.
- Zombie Horse – Arriving in Survival Mode for the first time, Zombie Horses are a passive mob that spawns at night, but are often ridden by spear-wielding zombies.
In collaboration with Conservation International, Mojang Studios launches Friendly Fishing add-ons. Showcased during Minecraft LIVE, players embark on a fishing adventure to find fish to complete the custom fish encyclopedia, utilize new fishing mechanics, and investigate new structures filled with treasures, discoveries, and loot. However, not everything is fish or chests with valuable items, as players will sometimes encounter plastic waste.

For those unaware, Conservation International is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987, working to protect nature for the benefit of humanity. From September 26 to the next three months, Microsoft Corporation will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the Friendly Fishing add-ons’ sales and an additional $100,000.00 to Conservation International. To learn more about the organization, players can visit the Conservation International website.
Before wrapping up, Minecraft LIVE teased an upcoming Dragon Ball Z DLC that will be arriving later this year. To prepare in time for the DLC, Bedrock players can claim a free Super Saiyan Hair in the Marketplace from today until November 4, 2025.
That’s about everything announced at the Minecraft LIVE September 2025 showcase. Minecraft is available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Fire, iOS, Android, Chromebook, and PC/MAC/Linux.
