MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe drops a new trailer, revealing SZA’s opening theme.
This week, Bandai Namco Filmworks released a new trailer for the upcoming film MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. The most surprising reveal from this new trailer was that the song Snooze by SZA will serve as the opening theme for the film. The film will be out in a few weeks in Japan, on January 30, 2026, teasing that U.S. dates will be coming soon as well.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is the next highly anticipated sequel in the series, which first premiered in theatres in Japan in 2021 and achieved major box office success. MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY is regarded as one of the most emotionally intense human dramas in the GUNDAM franchise. The story focuses on protagonist Hathaway Noa, leader of the Anti-Earth Federation Movement “MAFTY,” whose fate becomes intertwined with the mysterious young woman Gigi Andalucia, and Captain Kenneth Sleg, an officer of the Earth Federation Forces.
To mark the film’s forthcoming theatrical release, a special trailer featuring Snooze has been unveiled on the official GUNDAM YouTube channel, GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL. The song’s gentle melody and delicate vocals underscore the film’s world and its characters’ inner emotions, adding depth to the newly released footage. It seemed a little off-putting for the action-packed first few minutes, but it fit more when it shows all the human drama from a typical GUNDAM property.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY kicked off the new film series, planned to be a trilogy, back on June 11, 2021. The film was set in the Universal Century timeline after MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: Char’s Counterattack. The story follows Hathaway Noa, who, inspired by Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, leads the anti-Earth Federation group Mafty to resist the Federation’s deepening corruption. His encounters with Federation officer Kenneth Sleg and the mysterious Gigi Andalusia profoundly impact their lives. The film was widely praised for its stunning visuals and meticulous production, with some criticisms around its overly dark scenes and compressed storytelling.

The MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY film series follows the recent TV series MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM GQuuuuuuX, which was a fascinating series that imagined an alternate timeline of the original MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM TV series. This was the second series to feature a female protagonist since the shift began with MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: The Witch from Mercury, providing perspectives the franchise never explored—in terms of tone and ideas.
Stay tuned for when dates will be announced for MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe in North America!
