After yesterday’s teaser, Warner Bros. dropped the first official Mortal Kombat 2 film trailer today, and its loaded with blood, action, and uncaged fury.

Wanrer Bros. has finally given fans a fresh (and complete) new look at its upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 sequel film, and it showcases a whole lot of Karl Urban’s take on the B-list actor, Johnny Cage. While Cage is front and center, other newcomers include Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen), Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford), and Kitana (Adeline Rudolph) shown in action. Kitana is shown throwing her bladed fans at Cage, Jade wields her signature bow staff, and Sindel is deploys a vicious scream to an unfortunate victim, all in line with what can be seen in the iconic video game series.

Returning cast members include Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Cole Young (Lewis Tan), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), the fan-favourite Kano (Josh Lawson) and Hiroyuki Sanada’s Scorpion can be seen flitting through hell, and cutting what appears to be Noob Saibot in half from the waist up. Shao Kahn is also shown deploying a brutal stab through the back of a background character to show audiences what the Emperor of Outworld is capable of. With all of the gratuitous violence, Mortal Kombat 2 is shaping up to be as faithful as possible to the video games this time around, and the trailer can be seen below in all of its glory.

When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon said “”His integration into the Mortal Kombat story and universe is a big part of what this movie explores. He’s a washed-up Hollywood guy thrown into this magical, ultra-violent thing. Karl, his depiction of Johnny Cage is different than our games in some ways. He’s adding his own flare to it, but I think it’ll feel fresh. There’s like a novelty factor in there,” and Boon explains audiences this time around will experience the film through the POV of Cage instead of the first Mortal Kombat’s focus through the lens of Cole Young.

To help with video game and film immersion, new movie-accurate skins of the film’s characters, including Urban’s Johnny, Rudolph’s Kitana, and Ford’s Shao Kahn, are coming to the Mortal Kombat 1 video game later this year.

Mortal Kombat 2 will launch in theatres on October 24.
