Since its announcement, the MTG community has been theorizing what the Marvel’s Spider-Man set will look like, and today, some of the cards have been revealed.
Last March, the first MTG Spider-Man cards took the internet by storm. Although it was a scene box set, the six cards introduced gave fans a look at the heroism on display by the web-slinging hero, but also gave fans a look at some villainous designs coming to Magic: the Gathering. A batch of new exclusives was revealed today, showcasing a myriad of heroic companions that will be swinging to the set when it launches on September 26.
During the panel at SDCC 2025, fans were given a fresh look at new heroes and villains coming to the Spider-Man set. MTG has its work cut out for it, there are hundreds of characters to portray in the storied history of the resident Queens’ super-hero, and MTG introduces a scene from where it all started, the cover of Spider-Man #1.

The late and legendary illustrator, Steve Ditko —the original illustrator for the first Amazing comic— lent his iconic portrayal of the hero, including when Peter Parker was first bitten by the radioactive spider is prominently featured. The art is ripped straight from the comic pages and slapped onto an MTG card that can be played in-game. When Peter transforms, the artwork originally shown from Spider-Man #1′s cover is revealed, and it features the entire Marvel First Family, the Fantastic Four.
MTG didn’t shy away from the hero’s roots; they leaned into them and pulled scenes directly from the comic book pages and panels. Below, a gallery has been provided (courtesy of Wizards of the Coast) of all the cards revealed so far, and all of them embrace the webslinger’s origins and how the narrative has progressed over Spider-Man‘s history.

On top of the main set cards, WOTC also gave fans a look at some of the cards that can be expected to make an appearance in the newly introduced Welcome Deck set that will arrive with the rest of MTG Spider-Man. It’s important to note that WOTC has already determined that only the cards with the SPM set identifier will be Standard legal, but the rest (like the welcome deck code SPE) will not be Standard legal. The cards from the welcome decks are revealed below.

While the new Spider-Man Universes Beyond set will launch on September 26, fans will be taken to the Universe Within set, Edge of Eternities first. Edge of Eternities launches on August 1, and fans can find more information regarding any of the upcoming sets on the official Wizards of the Coast website.
