Wizards of the Coast and Magic: The Gathering have unveiled the next wave of information surrounding the upcoming expansion, Edge of Eternities.
As 2025 marches on, Wizards of the Coast continues to generate unseen excitement for Magic: the Gathering. While the Universes Beyond – Final Fantasy set and Tarkir Dragonstorm are in the rearview mirror, MTG looks to embrace a new frontier: the Edge of Eternities.
Like every other set release, Edge of Eternities introduces new (and returning) keywords and mechanics alongside fresh cards and exclusive artwork treatments from Magic: The Gathering. The Edge of Eternities is a brand new realm set in the Sothera star system, and fans will see the return of arch-villain artificer, the Planeswalker Tezzeret. Like every other set, there will also be returning creatures like the Sliver Overlord in new poster artwork, as well as a variety of new artwork and special card treatments exclusive to Edge of Eternities. The new artwork is out of this world and will give players the feeling of carrying a new universe in their pockets.
Magic: the Gathering – New & Returning Mechanics in Edge of Eternities

Warp – You can cast this card from your hand for its Warp cost, then the creature must be exiled at the beginning of your next end step. For those who get boons for casting from exile, the card may be cast from exile later on a later turn.
Modal – Cards that can be cast for a single mana cost and let the player choose one or two of the effects listed make a return in Edge of Eternities, just like the Siege cards in Tarkir Dragonstorm.
Lander Tokens – A new type of artifact token that gives players a new way to ramp lands. If you pay 2 mana and tap the artifact, it can then be sacrificed to allow players to search their library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped.

Void – A new keyword that piggybacks off of Warp. At the beginning of your end step, if a non-land permanent left the battlefield this turn or a spell was Warped, create a 2/2 colourless Robot Artifact Creature token.
Spacecraft – A new card type introduced in Edge of Eternities that have a similar mechanic to Aetherdrift Vehicles. The difference is once a Spacecraft is Stationed, it remains an artifact creature after the end step. The only way to revert them to their non-creature form is to remove the charge counters that are required to Station the Spacecraft.
Station – Like the aforementioned Spacecraft, the Station keyword operates like Crew X. Players can tap creatures they control to add charge counters to Spacecraft or Planet Lands equal to the creature’s power. Although players can only Station as a Sorcery (limiting the ability to their own turn), once a Spacecraft is appropriately Stationed, it becomes an Artifact Creature. Once a Planet Land is Stationed, it has another effect aside from tapping for mana. Speaking of…
Planet Lands – A new land type that deploys the new Station keyword. Once the required charge counters are met, the Planet can be tapped for other effects aside from mana generation.
