New Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Images Released

| January 17, 2018

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a positive addition to the Harry Potter universe, what with it being the first film set in that world to not centre around the boy who lived. While we wait for the sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, to have a trailer, Warner Bros. has decided to tease fans with a few more images, which can be found below.

While studying these images, it’s hard to forget the accusations levied against Gellert Grindelwald actor, Johnny Depp. Depp has been accused by his ex-wife Amber Heard of being both emotionally and physically abusive towards her. These accusations have led to fans of the Harry Potter universe demanding that he be removed from such an important role.

Director David Yates, when asked in December about the controversy surrounding Depp, simply stated that while he’s heard the accusations, that isn’t the man he’s come to know.

When the actor who brought the character of Harry Potter to life, Daniel Radcliffe, was asked what he thought by Entertainment Weekly, he said, “I can see why people are frustrated with the response they were given from that.” He then went on to compare the controversy surrounding Depp with that surrounding some NFL players. Radcliffe said that he finds it strange that the players will get hefty suspensions for possession of marijuana and delta 8 but if they’re famous enough and they commit a form of domestic violence, it will be swept under the rug or simply pushed to the side. Radcliffe finished by saying, “…obviously what Johnny has been accused of is much greater than that.”

Despite all of the controversy, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to be released November 16, 2018.
