The streaming giant Netflix just announced they’re making a live-action Assassin’s Creed TV series adaptation that will be headed to streaming.
Netflix just dropped a bombshell on Tudum. The next Netflix Original TV series will be a live-action adaptation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed universe, and the announcement is nearly five years in the making. The live-action adaptation is the first series to be developed under Netflix’s agreement with Ubisoft, the agreement that was signed way back in 2020.

Netflix’s Vice President of Scripted Series, Peter Friedlander reveals this was always the plan, stating “When we first announced our partnership with Ubisoft in 2020, we set out with an ambitious goal to bring the rich, expansive world of Assassin’s Creed to life in bold new ways,” adding “Now, after years of dedicated collaboration, it’s inspiring to see just how far that vision has come. Guided by the deft hands of Roberto Patino and David Wiener, the team has carefully crafted an epic adventure that both honors the legacy of the Assassin’s Creed franchise and invites longtime fans and newcomers alike to experience the thrill of the Brotherhood as never before.”
Emmy nominees Roberto Patino (DMZ, Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming, The Killing) will serve as multi-tool project leads as the creators, showrunners, and executive producers. Executive producers include Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole.
“We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007. Every day we work on this show, we come away excited and humbled by the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed opens to us,” Wiener and Patino jointly said, adding “Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story — about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith. It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance.”
The show seemingly seeks to explore the humanity expressed in the universe, with the project lead duo expressing the show is about “the value of human connection, across cultures, across time,” with Wiener and Patino concluding “we’re committed to creating something undeniable for fans all over the planet.”
Netflix has been on a hot streak with bringing video games new life, with former and upcoming series showing the streaming giant’s commitment to gaming adaptations. Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and the upcoming second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners show what Netflix Originals is capable of, so fans can let out a sigh of relief that Assassin’s Creed is in good hands.
