Niantic has announced the Tour Pass as a free and limited-time progression track to maximize earning rewards during Pokémon GO Tour: Unova alongside a paid variant.
As the fans of Pokémon GO embark on adventures during the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova event, Niantic has announced Tour Pass, a free and limited-time progression track to help users maximize earning their rewards. From February 24th to March 2nd, 2025, you can use Tour Points earned from playing the game to redeem for rewards, increase your rank, and improve your event bonuses. Although free, there is a premium version available called Tour Pass Deluxe for trainers looking for upgraded rewards and faster progression.
Expanding on the Tour Pass Deluxe that will be available during Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, the premium variant will give the trainer the chance to immediately encounter the Mythical Pokémon Victini after upgrading to the deluxe, even if they have caught the Pokémon before. But as you progress through the Tour Pass Deluxe, you can claim all of the rewards from the free and premium variants, and it is available to upgrade the deluxe path any time you want while still being able to collect your rewards from previously unlocked tiers. Lastly, as part of the Deluxe path, trainers can earn a new item called the Lucky Trinket when they reach the highest tier.
To kick start your Tour Pass progression in Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, you will unlock a GO Tour 2025 Tee avatar item. To collect the Tour Points, participate in activities such as catching Pokémons, completing raids, and hatching eggs to earn a small amount of points. But if you wish to earn points faster, you can complete the Pass Task, a quick event-themed task that will help you collect points and rank up faster, getting rewards in less time. The Pass Task will refresh daily from Monday, February 24th to February 28th and during the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global, the Pass Tasks will refresh every hour from 10 am to 5 pm local time each day.
While the trainers collect Tour Points, they can progress through the Tour Pass tiers with Minor and major Milestones, earning small rewards like Pokémon encounters, Pokémon Candy, Pokéball, and many more. Reaching the Milestones, you can yield larger rewards ranging from stickers, avatar items, and a special Pokémon encounter. But each time you reach a Major Milestone, it increases your Catch XP. The Catch XP you can receive from hitting the Milestone are:
- 1.5x Catch XP as you reach Tier 2
- 2x Catch XP as you reach Tier 3
- 3x Catch XP as you reach Tier 4
Alongside the Catch XP as you hit the Milestone, trainers with a free Tour Pass will be awarded a special encounter of Zorua with a Special background upon reaching the final Major Milestone, and the trainers with Tour Pass Deluxe will earn a Lucky Trinket after reaching the Major Milestone.
Exclusive to the Tour Pass Deluxe, trainers can earn the Lucky Trinket, a one-time use that can turn one friend from your Friend List into a Lucky Friend. With your Lucky Friend, the next Pokémon you trade will become a Lucky Pokémon and the Lucky Friend status will be cleared. However, the item will only stay in your bag for a limited time, so be sure to use the Lucky Trinket before it expires on March 9, 2025.
To use the Lucky Trinket, you have to be at least Great Friends with the recipient and you cannot use the Lucky Trinket with a Trainer you are currently Lucky Friend with. Lastly, the Lucky Trinket will not change the distance for you to complete the trade and if you wish not to receive a Lucky Friend status, you can disable the permission from your settings page.
While the base Tour Pass is free, the Tour Pass Deluxe will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store and the in-game store from February 24th to March 2nd, 2025 for USD 14.99. With the purchase, the trainers will receive:
- An encounter with the Mythical Pokémon, Victini.
- Encountering event-themed Pokémon.
- Event-themed avatar item.
- One Lucky Trinket.
- Many more from the tiers.
If the Trainers wish to further upgrade to Tour Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks, it will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store and in-game store from February 24th to March 2nd. 2025 for USD 19.99. With the purchase, trainers will have the Tour Pass Deluxe and enough Tour Points to unlock ten ranks of rewards.
Pokémon GO is available to download now on Android and iOS, with the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova taking place from February 24 to March 2, 2025, and the Tour Pass base and Deluxe being available throughout the duration.
