The popular mobile third-person shooter, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, has finally announced a date for its Resident Evil crossover, and you’ll be able to get your hands on it surprisingly soon.
On September 24, Nikke will launch its “Reborn Evil” collaboration, adding a brand-new story to the game along with three new playable characters — Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and Claire Redfield. Ironically, this is the first time we’ve seen Jill as a starring character since the original Resident Evil 3 (not counting the RE3 remake).
Here’s an overview of the collaboration’s story,
“The story unfolds in the ruins of a long-forgotten mansion, where a mysterious NEO-Virus infection has begun to spread. As the A.C.P.U. Squad, D, and the Commander investigate, the team encounters Jill Valentine and her allies. The newly released trailer teases haunting scenes – Poli attacked by a shadowy, mysterious hand, followed by Jill, Ada, and Claire appearing in a crimson-lit chapel, setting the stage for a tense and unforgettable showdown.”
If you’ve never played Nikke before, it’s essentially a role-playing shooter with some heavy gacha elements, taking place in a post-apocalyptic world.
You build your characters and outfit them with weapons, then fight through a number of battles where you deploy up to five characters. In each battle, your units are deployed in a line, and you swap between them while blasting enemies from a third-person view. You only need to aim the reticle and use special abilities, as reloading happens automatically. Of course, you need to obtain new characters via a gacha system, which costs in-game currency that you can acquire by playing or spending real money.
Nikke is developed by Shift Up, the studio behind the sci-fi action game Stellar Blade — which it also recently had a crossover with.
Goddess of Victory: Nikke is available on iOS, Android, and PC.
