Nintendo has been pretty consistent in its commitment to highlight new and interesting Indie games, and in their most recent Indie World Showcase, they showed off a plethora of unique titles. In case you missed it, here’s everything that was announced during the August Nintendo Indie World Showcase.
Well Dweller
A new bird-based Metroid-like: Well-Dweller, combines a genuinely striking visual style with intense action and exploration. Play as Glimmer—a tiny bird armed with a matchstick, who must burn the wicked queen to save his family before they become part of her royal gown. No release date was set, but the game is expected to release in 2026.
Neverway
Neverway is the debut game from Coldblood Inc., a studio co-founded by the pixel artist behind Celeste and TowerFall, featuring an original soundtrack by Disasterpeace. The game describes itself as a nightmarish life-sim where players must work to pay off their debt while battling horrible creatures in an alternate reality. No release date was set, but the game will be available in 2026.
Herdling
A bold and beautiful journey as you guide a herd of strange creatures to the mountains. The game evokes feelings of Journey, combining fast motion, beautiful visuals and harrowing dangers. Herdling will release on Aug 21st, 2025.
Is This Seat Taken?
A unique puzzle game where the player decides where to place quirky characters based on their preferences. It’s a cozy puzzle game where you’re in charge of who sits where. Is This Seat Taken? was made available after the Indie Partner Showcase.
Little Kitty, Big City Update
Little Kitty, Big City is getting a bit bigger with a brand new area of the city to explore, alongside new characters to meet and befriend. On top of this, players will be able to customize their kitty however they want, with a range of Cat breeds and pattern types. Alongside this expanded customization are new Photo Mode features. This content update will be available later this year.
Content Warning
Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, Content Warning is the infamous content-making survival game where players dive into a terrifying well in order to create the most viral video. The game will be coming to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in 2026.
Ball X Pitt
Part roguelike, part Arkanoid. In Ball X Pit, players must face off against armies of barbaric creatures by flinging as many balls at them as they can. Featuring a unique base-building mechanic and a gorgeous pixel art aesthetic, Ball X Pit lands on Nintendo Switch on October 15th, 2025, and Nintendo Switch 2 in Fall
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
The follow-up to the wacky multiplayer platformer Ultimate Chicken Horse—Ultimate Sheep Raccoon is a bike-racing party game where you and your friends build the course together. Add obstacles and dangerous traps, take the lead with power-ups, and race to the finish. The game will be coming to both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in the Winter of 2025.
Glaciered
Set in a world frozen under a massive sheet of ice, players take on the role of an aquatic creature with incredible abilities. Players must fight to survive in exciting real-time combat and unlock new abilities to protect this new frozen world. Glaciered will launch as a timed console exclusive on Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday.
UFO 50 Lands on Nintendo Switch
One of the most creative and unique indie games to come out in 2024, UFO 50 is a modern take on the classic 50-games-in-one cartridge. The twist? The games are really good! Featuring platformers, strategy games, a full-fledged RPG and more, UFO 50 was made available after the Indie Partner Showcase.
