Nintendo just announced and dropped a new plus-sized Nintendo Direct presentation today, showcasing everything from a new Mario Tennis to a new Fire Emblem title.
Today’s Nintendo Direct has been on the menu for nearly a week, with the announcement of the presentation just two days ago leading to today’s showcase. Nintendo continues to keep its foot on the gas pedal and continues to deliver Nintendo Direct presentations in a rapid style since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Today’s hotly anticipated Direct presentation opened the door for a fresh look at new Nintendo Switch 2 titles.
With housekeeping finished, the Nintendo Direct revealed a torrent of new trailers and while there were some surprise announcements like a re-release of Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2 in a bundle, brand new titles were revealed, and everything from today’s presentation can be seen below.

Super Mario Kicks Off The Direct For His 40th Anniversary!
As is fitting for the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, Super Mario himself opened the curtain for the massive Nintendo Direct today. A Mario montage was played to celebrate his 30th Anniversary, and Shigeru Miyamoto has taken to the screen to discuss what we can expect from this celebration of Mario’s history to open the show.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie First Look
The second film in the Super Mario film franchise from Illumination has been revealed, and Nintendo calls it the “main event” of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary celebrations. Rumours were correct, and fans were right to surmise the proper name of the film as Super Mario Galaxy Movie, instead of Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. The original voice cast is returning, and It’s arriving in theatres in April 2026.
Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch!
Keeping with the Super Mario Galaxy trend, the Nintendo Direct continued to celebrate the Super Mario 40th anniversary by revealing the two mainline Super Mario Galaxy titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch in a single package. The titles will be available in a single bundle and individually on October 2.
Mario Tennis Fever
Continuing to roll with Super Mario, the next title to allow Mario characters to hit the Tennis court is here. In Mario Tennis Fever, fans utilize new “Fever” rackets, which let you unleash special abilities like a freeze shot, and there’ll be 38 playable characters, various game modes, and motion control support. Mario Tennis Fever launches on February 12, 2026.
Super Mario Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is getting a Switch 2 Edition, and it comes with new content set in Bellabel Park. This version of the game will be available in Spring 2026.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
For the last announcement as part of the Super Mario 40th anniversary celebration, the Nintendo Direct brought out everyone’s favourite green dinosaur, Yoshi, and a brand new watercolour-style adventure with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
A new title in the slice-of-life franchise, Tomodachi Life, is returning to Nintendo consoles with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The next installment of the ongoing Tomodachi Life franchise will launch in the Spring of 2026.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was already announced for the Switch 2 console, but the Nintendo Direct revealed it’s coming out on January 22, 2026.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection
After all of the teasing, the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Atari, finally has a release date, and it’s coming on October 30, 2025 for Nintendo.
Hades 2
After being in early access on Steam for over a year, it’s almost time for Hades 2 to take centre stage on Nintendo Console platforms (as a limited release before other platforms, just like the original). The Nintendo Direct revealed a concrete release date for Hades 2, which is set to arrive just under two weeks from now, on September 25.
Mega Man Legacy: Starforce Collection
Just like the previous Mega Man Battle Network Collection, another new collection featuring the Starforce Nintendo DS titles is coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2026.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
The next chapter of the Hyrule Warriors saga that now functions as a canonical title in the ongoing Legend of Zelda storyline, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, has been given a release date of November 6, 2025.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
Another retro Dragon Quest title is receiving a new, refreshed version, giving a new generation of gamers the ability to play. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined brings the seventh installment of the franchise to Nintendo Switch 2 with completely overhauled graphics. It releases on February 5, 2026.
Virtual Boy
Virtual Boy (you read that right) is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the Virtual Console. It’s coming with a new dedicated Virtual Boy accessory for Switch 2, and it’ll be available for gamers to take a walk down memory lane on February 17, 2026.
FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE
Horror fans will be pleased to learn FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is making its way onto the Nintendo platform, and while the trailer was brief, fans will be delighted to learn it’s coming in early 2026.
Power Wash Simulator 2
Everyone’s favourite cleaning simulator is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 console, and it’ll be on the console this Fall.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Next up, the Nintendo Direct presentation gave fans a fresh look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, complete with a release date and a new motorcycle Samus can apparently travel around on to get from point A to point B. Just early enough for the holiday season, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4.
Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island and Emerald Rush
As if the Nintendo Direct heard fans who were lamenting the lack of additional Kongs in Donkey Kong Bananza, a new paid DLC will reintroduce Donkey Kong fans to the DK Island from Donkey Kong 64, and the island will have notable Kongs included, like Diddy and Dixie from the DK Country titles. If players have beaten the main storyline of Bananza, they will be able to join the Void Company as an employee for more activities around DK Island. Fans should note it’s a paid DLC, but it is available today, and the base game is getting a free demo.
Pokémon Pokopia
In a gameplay crossover, Pokémon becomes a town builder. Fans can play as a Ditto transformed into a human and shape an empty land into a beautiful home for Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia, releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
In a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Game Freak announced all three starters from the Pokémon X and Y mainline titles are getting Mega Evolutions alongside the previously announced Dragonite, Hawlucha, Victreebel, and Malamar Mega Evolutions!
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC
It’s worth reminding fans that Pokémon Legends: Z-A isn’t even out yet, yet additional post-game story content and new Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A. In the paid Mega Dimension DLC, new Mega Evolutions and content will be playable, including new Mega Evolutions for Raichu in X and Y versions!
DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS
From the “Yellow Turban Rebellion” to the climax of the “Battle of Chibi,” the story of DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS follows the Romance of the Three Kingdoms plot retold as a singular warrior attempting to bring peace to ancient China. It’s coming to Switch 2 in 2026.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
The next installment of the turn-based Monster Hunter Stories RPG series, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, finally has a release date, and it’s coming out on March 13. 2026.
Resident Evil 7, 8, and Resident Evil: Requiem are all Coming To Nintendo Switch 2
While the highly anticipated Resident Evil: Requiem is still en route, the Nintendo Direct has let everyone know it’s also coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day as every other console, on February 27, 2026. That’s not all, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 8: Village will also be coming to the console on the same day.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
As the final announcement for the packed Nintendo Direct presentation, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has been surprisingly announced to close out the show. The trailer closed with what appears to be a very Sothis-looking (from Fire Emblem: Three Houses) character, in a very mysterious confrontation. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches sometime in 2026.
