Nintendo Direct September 2025: Everything Announced!

Nintendo just announced and dropped a new plus-sized Nintendo Direct presentation today, showcasing everything from a new Mario Tennis to a new Fire Emblem title.

Today’s Nintendo Direct has been on the menu for nearly a week, with the announcement of the presentation just two days ago leading to today’s showcase. Nintendo continues to keep its foot on the gas pedal and continues to deliver Nintendo Direct presentations in a rapid style since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Today’s hotly anticipated Direct presentation opened the door for a fresh look at new Nintendo Switch 2 titles.

With housekeeping finished, the Nintendo Direct revealed a torrent of new trailers and while there were some surprise announcements like a re-release of Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2 in a bundle, brand new titles were revealed, and everything from today’s presentation can be seen below.

Super Mario Kicks Off The Direct For His 40th Anniversary!

As is fitting for the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, Super Mario himself opened the curtain for the massive Nintendo Direct today. A Mario montage was played to celebrate his 30th Anniversary, and Shigeru Miyamoto has taken to the screen to discuss what we can expect from this celebration of Mario’s history to open the show.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie First Look

The second film in the Super Mario film franchise from Illumination has been revealed, and Nintendo calls it the “main event” of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary celebrations. Rumours were correct, and fans were right to surmise the proper name of the film as Super Mario Galaxy Movie, instead of Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. The original voice cast is returning, and It’s arriving in theatres in April 2026.

Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch!

Keeping with the Super Mario Galaxy trend, the Nintendo Direct continued to celebrate the Super Mario 40th anniversary by revealing the two mainline Super Mario Galaxy titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch in a single package. The titles will be available in a single bundle and individually on October 2.

Mario Tennis Fever

Continuing to roll with Super Mario, the next title to allow Mario characters to hit the Tennis court is here. In Mario Tennis Fever, fans utilize new “Fever” rackets, which let you unleash special abilities like a freeze shot, and there’ll be 38 playable characters, various game modes, and motion control support. Mario Tennis Fever launches on February 12, 2026.

Super Mario Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is getting a Switch 2 Edition, and it comes with new content set in Bellabel Park. This version of the game will be available in Spring 2026.

The Nintendo Direct revealed a concrete release date for Hades 2, which is set to arrive just under two weeks from now, on September 25.

Next up, the Nintendo Direct presentation gave fans a fresh look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, complete with a release date and a new motorcycle Samus can apparently travel around on to get from point A to point B. Just early enough for the holiday season, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4.

Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island and Emerald Rush

As if the Nintendo Direct heard fans who were lamenting the lack of additional Kongs in Donkey Kong Bananza, a new paid DLC will reintroduce Donkey Kong fans to the DK Island from Donkey Kong 64, and the island will have notable Kongs included, like Diddy and Dixie from the DK Country titles. If players have beaten the main storyline of Bananza, they will be able to join the Void Company as an employee for more activities around DK Island. Fans should note it’s a paid DLC, but it is available today, and the base game is getting a free demo.

In a gameplay crossover, Pokémon becomes a town builder. Fans can play as a Ditto transformed into a human and shape an empty land into a beautiful home for Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia, releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

It’s worth reminding fans that Pokémon Legends: Z-A isn’t even out yet, yet additional post-game story content and new Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A. That’s not all, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 8: Village will also be coming to the console on the same day.

 Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

As the final announcement for the packed Nintendo Direct presentation, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has been surprisingly announced to close out the show. The trailer closed with what appears to be a very Sothis-looking (from Fire Emblem: Three Houses) character, in a very mysterious confrontation. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches sometime in 2026.
