On Thursday, the previously announced NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, hit the market for consumers and can be purchased today!
Today is the day NVIDIA has unleashed their latest and greatest GPUs, the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, for consumers looking to upgrade their PC rig to its utmost potential. These were first revealed at CES 2025, and like other GPU launches, stock is expected to sell out quickly regarding the new 50-series GPUs. Consumers looking to upgrade but remain on the fence should act quickly. With the retail rollout of the GPUs, NVIDIA has provided an overview video detailing the big changes to their GPUs for consumers to make a more informed decision, and it can be seen below.
CGMagazine’s review of the NVIDIA RTX 5080 Founders Edition GPU says, “The new encoders and decoders, improved codec support, and overall strong performance across a range of games—even at maxed-out visual settings—make it an easy GPU to recommend.” While the new GPUs run faster than the previous NVIDIA RTX 4090, CGMagazine’s testing revealed both GPUs surpassed benchmarks provided by previous generations while providing a lower power output providing a better user experience all around.

NVIDIA bases their new RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs on 5th-gen Tensor Cores with FP4 support, doubling AI performance with less VRAM requirements, making the new GPUs the ideal candidates for playing PC games at 4K with DLSS 4 support.
Other companies have also rolled out the red carpet for the RTX 5080/5090 launch, with CORSAIR launching new top-of-the-line VENGEANCE Gaming PC builds featuring the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards paired with Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors. Similarly, iBUYPOWER, a company focusing on building high-performance gaming computers, have also rolled out their own gaming PCs equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, and they can be perused and purchased today from their site (with similar CPU optionality as CORSAIR).
Fans in search of one of the new powerful RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 components can head to the official NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Product Finder (with the optionality to search for the 5080) to seek one of the new GPUs from the source itself. Fans can also check out the CGMagazine review on the RTX 5090 GPU to make a more informed decision.
