Palia Glides Onto Nintendo Switch: Now Available—for FREE!

Singularity 6’s charming life simulator, Palia, is now available on Nintendo Switch—completely free!

We first talked about Palia on CGM back in 2021, with a second preview this August during the Closed Beta. The game is described as a community sim multiplayer, but I mostly refer to it as a sim-MMO, though servers don’t allow for quite that many players at once. I’ve been checking it out on Nintendo Switch all week, and let me tell you, I was elated to find that your PC progress carries over to Nintendo Switch when you link your account. There are also rewards for doing so!

Rewards for linking Palia & Nintendo Accounts:

  • Freshly Painted Froggy Bucket Log-in Reward: Log in and play Palia starting on launch day to claim this time-limited crimson variant of the fan-favourite Froggy Bucket before the reward window croaks in March.
  • Account Linking Mushroom Glider Reward: Link your Nintendo Switch with a Palia account to receive a unique new glider that will have you traversing the Palian landscape faster than a rogue Flothinger.
  • Account Linking Leapfroggy Outfit Reward: Switch up your look and hop around in style when you link your Nintendo Switch and your Palia accounts to earn the Leapfroggy Outfit reward.

Bringing the adorable life simulator to Nintendo Switch has been mentioned from the very beginning, with a “Winter 2023” time frame. I’ll be honest: I’m in Nintendo Switch groups on Facebook, and people were not hopeful that we would see it before Christmas, but here we are!

“When we set out to create Palia, our goal was to bring a new standard of play to the community sim genre, and we’re incredibly proud of the community that has rallied behind our vision for the game,” said Co-Founder and Game Director at Singularity 6, Aidan Karabaich. “Launching on Nintendo Switch is a significant milestone for Palia’s development, and we’re thrilled to welcome a whole new audience into Palia’s friendly and welcoming community. We plan to continue evolving the cozy community sim genre with Palia for years to come.”

I will say that though the game is now available on Nintendo Switch, there are still some kinks to work out. Load times are not short. If your system goes idle, you are kicked from the game (but it is a live service game, so this makes sense). Plus, the game seems to be constantly rendering—at least before the game went live to the public.

Keep in mind that this is a free-to-play game, and the team at Singularity 6 is still working out the kinks now that the game is live. Nintendo Switch ports are notorious for having issues, but after seeing the amazing community support for the PC version of the game, there is no doubt in my mind that the developers will show the same love to it on Nintendo Switch!

Palia is now available via their website, the Epic Games store, and, as of today, Nintendo Switch! It is completely free, so what’s stopping you?
