A new report surfaced Thursday, saying the creative director for Insomniac Games’ upcoming Wolverine title who left in the Summer of 2024 has now signed on as the new Perfect Dark creative director.
In July 2024, reports have circulated suggesting that Insomniac Games’ development team on their upcoming Wolverine title has been facing exits and arrivals. At that time, both narrative director Mary Kenney and the art director for Wolverine, Aaron Habibipour have both reportedly left to work at CD Projekt RED. While no animosity among the team at Insomniac Games has been announced, this left the lead role up for grabs at Insomniac.
Thursday, a new report came out from Stephen Totilo’s Game File that says while Wolverine is now being led by creative director Marcus Smith, and Mike Daly will serve as Wolverine’s new game director. It has also been confirmed that Wolverine‘s Game Director, Cameron Christian will remain at Insomniac in a different role.

Another former Insomniac Director Brian Horton (publicly named as the creative director of Insomniac’s Wolverine PS5 game in 2021, but has since left the project in Summer 2024), has reportedly found a new role as creative director of the Xbox-published Perfect Dark most recently showcased at Summer Games Fest 2024’s Xbox Showcase. The Initiative showed the first look at Microsoft’s Perfect Dark in development, and new fans know who leads the charge behind the scenes as Creative Director.

Seeing as how Brian Horton previously led the team behind 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, he joins a team of his former colleagues at Crystal Dynamics to work on another iconic game series helmed by an equally iconic female protagonist with Perfect Dark, but in the new locale of The Initiative at Microsoft Studios.
While not much else has been revealed surrounding the anticipated Perfect Dark, CGMagazine will keep readers informed when more is revealed surrounding The Initiative’s debut.
