Peter Parker returns in Slott’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man’

Peter Parker returns in Slott's 'Amazing Spider-Man' 1

Comic book writer Dan Slott, the man who killed Peter Parker and brought about the Superior Spider-Man series, has confirmed the existence of the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man series, which will debut in April, and mark the return of the real Peter Parker.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Slott said, “we’ve gone over 30 issues without Peter Parker, so when we let him out of that box and he gets to put on that costume again and he gets to swing through the sky, it’s going to be the greatest feeling.”

Slott’s short-lived promise to keep Peter Parker dead is no surprise, considering the endless amount of super hero revivals that have happened over the past few decades. The writer said he’s had a plan in place for Spider-Man since before the debut of Superior Spider-Man” #1, when Doctor Octopus swapped his consciousness with Peter’s before dying due to the punishment his body took during his villainous career.

“To do that for a solid year of my life, that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do — to look small children in the eye at a convention and lie to them,” Slott said.

Whether the emergence of the new series signals the end of Superior Spider-Man is unclear. Interestingly enough however, the release of the Amazing Spider-Man #1 will be very close to the launch of Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man 2. What will happen to the Superior sister titles – Superior Foes of Spider-Man and Superior Spider-Man Team-Up – once Peter Parker makes his miraculous recovery is at this point also unknown.
