PlayStation has dropped many exciting announcements at the State of Play, in September 2024 ranging from new game announcements, updates, and a look at the PS5 Pro!
Quite an exciting State of Play hosted by PlayStation on September 2024, announcing many new games and updates for players to look forward to throughout this year and later in 2025. Ranging from new games announced for the PS5 and PS VR2, Palworld coming to PS5 as of today, a new detail about PlayStation 5 Pro, and a surprising announcement from Sucker Punch, here is everything announced at the State of Play showcase!
Astro Bot – Receiving free Add-Ons!
Starting the State of Play with a banger, Astro Bot has been announced to receive many free add-ons to release during Fall 2024! Soon, the players will receive five online speed courses and 10 new bots to rescue, such as the main protagonist from Stellar Blade and Helldiver 2.
The Midnight Walk
From the creators of Lost in Random, Moon Hood has announced The Midnight Walk, a horror game made with handcrafted clay as the characters wander many areas and meet many new people and weird creatures they must avoid. Soon to be available on the PS5 and PS VR2, players can wishlist the game as of now!
Hell Is Us
Hell Is Us is an action-adventure horror game in which the character wanders a devastated country as monsters have taken over, and it is up to you to fight against the monsters! Equipped with your trusty blade and a drone to hover around you, you will be wandering in the country and dungeons meeting many new companions and enemies you must defeat.
Metro Awakening
Inspired by the internationally bestselling novel, Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Awakening is an upcoming PlayStation VR2 game about finding a companion that has wandered somewhere but never returned. As you embark on an adventure to retrieve your companion, you encounter many dead bodies as part of a ritual and many monsters you will need to fight to survive and save your partner. Metro Awakening will be released on November 7th, 2024 on the PlayStation VR2.
ArcheAge Chronicles
Stepping into the medieval age, ArchAge Chronicles is an action-adventure game as you embark on an adventure to prove your worth. Fight against many enemies ranging from humans and monsters with your wide array of blades and magic, while also meeting many companions and upgrading your weapons. ArcheAge Chronicles will be released in 2025, and players can wishlist now on the PS5!
Palworld
Palworld has arrived on the PlayStation 5 as of today! With the announcement, Pocket Pair has shown a new location the players will soon explore to fight and capture Pals with an introduction of a mysterious character.
Lunar Remastered Collection
Being a classic RPG, the Lunar Remastered Collection has been announced to release on the PS5 and PS4, bringing Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Eternal Blue Complete to the modern consoles. The classic RPG will receive updated visuals, widescreen mode, and many more in the remastered collection. The Lunar Remastered Collection will be released in Spring 2025!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Radical Reptiles DLC
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has announced the Radical Reptiles DLC, adding Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa as playable characters. Alongside the new playable characters, the game will be receiving a new remix OST from many music composers such as Jake Kaufman, Sean Bialo, Keiji Yamagishi, Tomoya Tomita, Button Masher, and Anamanaguchi for free! The DLC and Update will be available later today for download!
Sonic X Shadow Generation – Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack

Keanu Reeve has joined the party, as he will be voicing Shadow in the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack in the Shadow X Shadow Generation! Releasing on December 12th, 2024, the movie pack features levels inspired by the scenes from the upcoming Sonic 3 movie and those who have the digital deluxe of the game will be able to play the upcoming movie pack three days ahead.
Fantasian Neo Dimension
Arriving on December 5th, 2024, Fantasian Neo Dimension is a turn-based RPG featuring 150 handmade diorama backgrounds while innovating the traditional RPG battle mechanics. The battle system will allow players to “stock” random encounters to battle all at once, and let the players manipulate the trajectories of spells for maximum damage. Not to mention, the soundtrack for the game will be composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, known for his many iconic works in the Final Fantasy series.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Releasing on October 31st, 2024 on the PS5, Dragon Age: The Veilguard shows a sneak peek of the game’s story. Set in Hossberg Wtland in Wardan Foward Camp, the group of characters enter a lair to lure out a dragon they must fight. As soon the dragon is lured out, the player is shown to be fighting against the dragon using a range of magical attacks with the assistance of their teammate before the second dragon and an enemy with tentacles arrive as reinforcement, pushing the players and the teammates away as it is too overwhelming to take on as of now.
Alan Wake 2 – The Lake House
Jumping back into the Alan Wake 2 universe, we are shown a glimpse of the upcoming expansion titled The Lake House, showcasing what is in store for the facility set up by the FBC in Brightfall. Stepping into the facility called the Lake House, we saw many dead bodies lumped together with something calling to the players but being jumpscared before they could enter the room. The Lake House will be available in October 2024 as part of the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pack.
Hitman: World of Assassination – Coming to PlayStation VR2
It is time to take on the role of Agent 47 in the immersive world of Hitman: World of Assassination through the PlayStation VR 2. As you become the world’s best assassin through the 4K HDR display of the PlayStation VR 2, you will be able to complete the full main campaign of Hitman: World of Assassination with many new enhancements from dual-wielding, a wide array of action and interactions being added with the possibility of performing actions with both controllers, active reloading, on-body weapon holstering, aiming through the sniper’s scope, and many more.
Hitman: World of Assassination will launch on PlayStation VR2 for the PS5 in December 2024, with an ability to upgrade to the PlayStation VR2 content for $9.99 for those who own the game already.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered has been announced to release on the PS4 and PS5, featuring an updated visual for a crisp look and a higher frame rate. In the game, you play as the vampire-turned-wraith named Raziel, who is on a vengeful path after being betrayed and executed by his former master, Kain centuries ago. With the new ability as a Wraith, slay the former vampires that have wronged you with your range of weapons and grow stronger as you devour your enemies! Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is available to pre-order now on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, releasing on December 10th, 2024.
Fear The Spotlight
Releasing on October 22nd, 2024 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Fear The Spotlight is the first indie horror game to be released from Blumhouse Games. Developed by Cozy Game Pals, Fear The Spotlight is an atmospheric third-person horror adventure with many disturbing mysteries waiting to be unravelled. You will be playing as Vivian, who has entered the deserted corridors for a seance with your rebellious friend named Amy, but suddenly separated and it’s up to Vivan to find her friend as she avoids the gaze of the monsters and uncovers the disturbing yet murderous truth of a decade old tragedy.
Tower of Aghasba
Being first revealed in the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Towers of Aghasba is a highly anticipated and ambitious project from Dreamlit Games brought together by Khang Le and Dave Nguyen who are the original creators of the 2012 award-winning indie mech first-person shooter, Hawken on PC. from the State of Play, we are presented with new gameplay footage from Towers of Aghasba as it showcase the open-world vistas and majestic beast with groundbreaking storytelling, deep lore, and quirky characters. Outside the single-player exploration, the game will offer multiplayer sojourns to allow players to visit their friend’s island to check out their designs, harvest corps, or simply hang out.
For those interested in getting their hands on the game early, there will be an Early Access released in November 2024. The Early Access content included are three types of unique ecosystems to restore and grow, three types of towns to construct, 40+ creatures to unlock, 120+ plants to grow and harvest, 150+ decoration recipes, exploration across the vast open-world lands, discover ruins and relic, and variety of activity to participate in.
LEGO Fortnite – Split Screen Mode and a new controller
Releasing this October, LEGO Fortnite will be receiving a Split Screen Mode! This feature will allow players to play with friends and family on one console as they explore and build villages together. Alongside the release of Split Screen Mode, there will be a limited edition Fortnite DualSense controller to arrive later this year with pre-orders opening on October 3rd, 2024.
DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS
Announced by KOEI TECMO and developed by Omega Force, DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGIN has been revealed at the PlayStation State of Play showcasing a nameless warrior fighting against 1,000 warriors on its own. Set during the dawn of an era of tremendous upheaval in the Three Kingdoms with the original protagonist travelling as an martial artist with amnesia, finds himself in the middle of a conflict.
In DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGIN, the hero will partake in a dramatic tale of ancient China as he embarks on an adventure, makes various choices, and holds a secret that could have an impact on the Three Kingdoms. Throughout the adventure, you will battle against many foes and well-known officers such as Lu Bu as he tests your martial arts skills. DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGIN will be released on January 17, 2025, on the PlayStation 5.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Announce to release on February 28th, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds new trailer showcased a new look at the forest and desserts the players will be exploring as they hunt down many monsters and a glimpse into the story content. The trailer focuses on gameplay segments as the player fights against many monsters, but comes across a White Wraith who was thought to be extinct but still exists as it is quite a powerful beast.
With the release date announced, Monster Hunter Wilds pre-orders are open today with many bonuses such as the Guild Knight Set as Layered Armor and Hope Charm talisman, digital mini artbook, and a set of armour for your companion that you can unlock if you have Save Data from Monster Hunter World and its expansion, Iceborne.
LEGO Horizon Adventures
Enter the world of Horizon Dawn once again, but this time, as LEGO! Releasing on November 14, 2024, LEGO Horizon Adventures is an action-adventure game as you explore, hunt, and collect many wacky outfits as you decorate your village. By pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe edition of the game, the player will receive a Roller Coaster customization, Shadow Stalwart Outfit, Banuk Armour Outfit, “Alloy” Aloy Outfit, Ratchet Outfit, Sackboy Outfit, and Rivet Outfit. The pre-order will begin on October 3rd, 2024 and those who pre-order any version of the game will receive a Shield-Weaver Outfit.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster
Being first released on the PS4, Horizon Zero Dawn will be getting a remaster for the PS5 and PC by Guerrilla and Nixxes. Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster will include more than 10 hours of re-recorded conversations and many graphical improvements to bring the game the same visual fidelity as Horizon Forbidden West. Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster will be available on October 31st, 2024 on the PS5 and PC and those who own the original game can upgrade to the PS5 version for $9.99.
Stellar Blade – New Contents Arriving
The action-adventure Stellar Blade will be receiving many new contents such as the Photo Mode to let players set up the perfect picture with their choice of poses, expression, and filters. Alongside the Photo Mode, the Stellar Blade original soundtrack featuring 180 tracks will be available today on selected music streaming services! Lastly, a Nier Automata collaboration will be coming to Stellar Blade later this year!
PlayStation Plus Monthly Games, alongside Classic!

Available in October, many PlayStation Plus members will soon be able to add Dead Space Remake, WWE 2K24, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus to their libraries. For the Classic Catalog, Dino Crisis and Blood Omen Legacy of Kain will be available later this year. Lastly, The Last of Us Part 1 will be coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on September 26th, 2024 to celebrate Last of Us Day!
PS5 New Chroma Collection
PS5 will be receiving a Chroma Collection featuring a set of new Dualsense wireless controllers and cover cases that will be available to pre-order on October 3rd, 2024. With the Chroma Collection, the colours included are Indigo, Pearl, and Teal.
PlayStation 5 Pro – New Details
Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS5 has joined the State of Play to reveal more detail about the PlayStation 5 Pro, presenting three key improvements that developers can utilize. The three key improvements included are the upgraded GPU, Advanced Ray-Tracing, and AI-driven upscaling that aims to bring developers closer to their vision when developing games. Launching this year in November, there will be many games enhanced right from the start. The games included are:

Ghost of Yotei
From the creators of Ghost of the Tsushima, Sucker Punch has announced its sequel, Ghost of Yotei with a new protagonist in northern Japan. Set in 1603 in Mount Yotei, you play as a female hunter who is being targeted by many people in Japan and must do everything she can to survive. Explore the breathtaking Yotei as you plow through the fields and fight many enemies you have come across! Ghost of Yotei will be released in 2025, with many more details soon to be shared!
