The Pokémon Company International has revealed the release date of Pokémon Legends: Z-A today, alongside a new Pokémon Presents presentation.
Since last February’s Pokémon Presents presentation, The Pokémon Company has remained quiet regarding the next entry in the Pokémon Legends series until today. Today, The Pokémon Company announced that both Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the base game for Nintendo Switch will launch on October 16, 2025, with digital pre-orders beginning June 5 on the Nintendo eShop.
On top of the now-confirmed release date of Legends, The Pokémon Company has also revealed its plans regarding the next Pokémon Presents presentation, and it’s arriving before Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The next presentation is scheduled to drop on July 22, 2025. The most recent trailer (launched with the February Pokémon Presents) for Legends: Z-A can be seen below.
The last Pokémon Presents revealed the starters for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, bringing Johto’s Chikorita and Totodile, along with Unova’s Tepig, as the first Pokémon trainers will encounter in Lumiose City. While Mega Evolution has been previously confirmed, Mega Evolution merchandise has been confirmed to hit the Pokémon Center website soon.
Today, fans can collect giant pins featuring Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, or shop from a collection of apparel and accessories showcasing fan-favourites like Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario, and more. The new announcement included an image celebrating already existing Mega Evolutions, despite heavy fan speculation on internet forums (like Reddit) that more Mega Evolutions are on the way.

Players should note that upon buying Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch (physically or digitally), they will have the option to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack from the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version, launches on October 16, 2025. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5.
