In a cross-gameplay mechanic, a Terastallized Pokémon Champions creature can be seen fighting a Mega Evolved Charizard—something previously not possible. Game Freak is leading development on the project, and Pokémon Champions can connect to Pokémon Home, allowing fans to use creatures available in Pokémon Home to battle trainers globally. A release date is still to be determined.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A New Trailer Reveal!
To close out Pokémon Presents for February 2025, The Pokémon Company gave fans a fresh look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is currently in production. Tepig, Totodile and Chikorita have been confirmed as the starting Pokémon, though regional variants of their third evolutions have not been revealed.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A has confirmed that Mega Evolution will return, and the story will be set in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. Compared to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y‘s Lumiose City, more greenery now adorns the landscape, and based on the revealed in-game map, the entire game appears to take place within Lumiose City.

While travelling through Lumiose City, players will stay in an old hotel named Hotel Z. This hotel serves as the central hub of Pokémon Legends: Z-A—a base of operations—and a suspiciously familiar-looking trainer will make an appearance. AZ will greet trainers at the hotel. He is over nine feet tall and bears a resemblance to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y‘s trainer character of the same name. AZ even has a Floette!
Battling in Pokémon Legends: Z-A appears to play out differently than in Pokémon Legends: Arceus or mainline Pokémon games. Positioning will matter, turning the tide of battle based on strategic placement, and Mega Evolution will play a key role in battles.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch in late 2025, marking the conclusion of Pokémon Presents for February 2025. Fans can find more information on the official Pokémon website.
