On Wednesday, McDonald’s announced a new collaboration with the Pokémon TCG and Pokémon TCG Pocket, giving rewards to players who order participating items.

Pokémon and McDonald’s have announced a new collaboration on Wednesday, and fans who purchase a new Pokémon Happy Meal from McDonald’s starting today can net Pokémon TCG and Pokémon TCG Pocket rewards. While the Pokémon Happy Meal will only be available for a limited time, each Happy Meal includes a physical Pokémon TCG booster pack featuring four of 15 available Pokémon TCG cards, a Pokémon poster, and one sticker sheet to decorate the poster. With the purchase, fans will receive one of four Pokémon-themed Happy Meal box designs based on fan favourite creatures. The Happy Meal boxes will feature Charizard, Pikachu & Dragonite together, Rayquaza, and Roaring Moon.

Senior Marketing Director at McDonald’s Guillaume Huin said, “Much like they do for McDonald’s, our fans have deep nostalgia and love for the Pokémon brand. We’re thrilled to build on those great memories and create a new moment of fun and happiness with the new Pokémon Happy Meal.” In addition to the physical items, fans who play Pokémon TCG Pocket will also be able to redeem in-game freebies.

Each fan who purchases a Pokémon Happy Meal through the McDonald’s app unlocks an in-game bonus at no extra cost. Fans will receive a one-time redeemable code to unlock 24 pack hourglasses and 12 wonder hourglasses—an in-game currency used to open Pokémon TCG Pocket booster packs and make Wonder Pick selections—helping to bolster their growing collections on the app.

To access these rewards, fans simply have to download the McDonald’s app and opt in to the email service, then order the Pokémon Happy Meal. A code will be sent to their email almost immediately with the code for free Pokémon TCG Pocket rewards. It is worth mentioning this promotion is only available to fans who live in the United States so far, and there is no confirmation it will arrive in any other regions.

Pokémon TCG Pocket also outlined their upcoming trading feature on the official TCG Pocket X (formerly Twitter) account, and it will have some serious limitations at launch. A new set of booster packs and cards are set to launch on January 29, so fans who snag the free rewards may want to save them for when the new packs release. Fans can find more information about the McDonald’s collaboration on the official website.
