Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches Triumphant Light and Offering Rates Stay The Same

Announced at the Pokémon Presents yesterday, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched a slew of new cards to collect and battle with in Triumphant Light but offerings have stayed the same.

After the Pokémon Presents, fans were left scouring the video for newly released details on what’s included in the new Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion booster, Triumphant Light. The Pokémon Company didn’t leave much time for speculation or digging, as Triumphant Light has officially launched today. A small trailer for Triumphant Light featuring the headliner Pokémon, Arceus, has been released also and it can be seen below.

The new set features over 70 brand-new cards including the creator of Sinnoh, and some cards feature new Link abilities that have been added to the Pokémon TCG Pocket landscape. A newly introduced version of Raichu allows the electric-type to receive 30 less damage from attacks as long as the new Arceus or Arceus EX card is also in play on your board. The Golbat evolution, Crobat, is also seeing its first printing in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and it has a link ability with Arceus (and Arceus EX) that allows it to do 30 damage to the opponent’s active Pokémon. Link abilities activate when the creator of Sinnoh is present in its standard variant or EX variant.

New card tech has also been featured in Pokémon TCG Pocket Triumphant Light. While Poké Flute can be used to strategically return weaker creatures to opponent boards for easy KOs, the new Celestic Town Elder acts as a self-revive and lets players return their own card to battle from the discard pile. Fans have already taken to forums like Reddit to share excitement for the new set, and blast pull rate drops like when the Mythical Island expansion and Space-Time Smackdown expansion launched. Below are tables showing all of the rare pull rates for the previous two expansions (Genetic Apex and Mythical Forest follow the same rubric).

Each card pull rate has been reduced significantly, however, reducing the chances fans will pull the exact creature they want from the population of cards. Mythical Forest had a population of 10 2-Star rare cards, putting each at a rate of 0.200% to pull one of those ten as the fifth card of any given pack. Triumphant Light has 13 2-Star rares to obtain, making the rate for each card significantly (to 0.153% from 0.200%) on the fifth card in a pack. So while it may seem cards aren’t coming out as much, the percentages on offering rates have stayed the same.

The Triumphant Light expansion has landed in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and fans can play the new set now. For more information, fans can head to the official The Pokémon Company website for further news.
