PowerA Teams Up With Bandai Namco, Announcing PAC-MAN Gaming Collection For Its 45th Anniversary

To celebrate PAC-MAN‘s 45th anniversary in the gaming industry, PowerA and Bandai Namco are launching the PAC-MAN x PowerA Collection for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

Celebrating PAC-MAN‘s 45th anniversary as an arcade gaming icon, PowerA is partnering with Bandai Namco to launch the PAC-MAN x PowerA Collection. As part of the launch, fans can grab the Retro Arcade Protection Case to protect their Nintendo Switch with durable yet customizable material and a Special Edition Wireless Controller for Xbox to enhance their gameplay with a range of features.

The Retro Arcade Protection Case is designed to be both sturdy and customizable. The Nintendo Switch case features a durable outer shell, a rubberized handle, dual zipper pulls, and a built-in screen protector flap that can store up to nine cartridges. To celebrate the original PAC-MAN, the case features an in-game level design on a glossy surface and a static cling sheet that allows fans to customize it with classic PAC-MAN artwork.

For Xbox gamers looking to enhance their performance while paying tribute to the arcade classic, the Special Edition Wireless Controller offers several high-performance features. It includes a Hall-effect thumbstick to eliminate stick drift, a low-latency USB wireless adapter for responsive gameplay, four mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons for customized controls, and a three-way trigger lock to adjust sensitivity for FPS and racing games. The controller also features an integrated headset dial for volume adjustment and mic muting without interrupting gameplay.

In terms of design, the Special Edition Wireless Controller features PAC-MAN-themed action button fonts with glow-in-the-dark details and UV-reactive black plastic. The nostalgic artwork showcases PAC-MAN collecting pellets while being chased by ghosts, with a 45Up emblem in the top corner to commemorate the anniversary.

Originally named PUCK-MAN in Japan, the arcade game was released in July 1980. A simple yet challenging game, players control PUCK-MAN as he collects pellets while evading ghosts to complete levels. However, by grabbing a Power Pellet, players can temporarily turn the tables and eliminate the ghosts. Due to the game’s popularity in Japan, PUCK-MAN was renamed PAC-MAN for its October 1980 release in the United States to prevent potential vandalism of arcade cabinets.

For fans looking to bring PAC-MAN home to celebrate its 45th anniversary, the PAC-MAN x PowerA Collection is available today on PowerA.com and Amazon.
