Sony has released a PS5 update, introducing a DualSense Beta feature that enables players to pair their controllers with more than one device simultaneously.
The PS5 is a constantly evolving console, continually advancing and bringing solid quality-of-life updates to PlayStation fans worldwide. And today, they’ve made the DualSense controller a little more advanced. Available tomorrow for players who have gained access to the PlayStation system software beta, the DualSense Beta and DualSense Edge Beta will enable controllers to be paired across multiple devices simultaneously, as detailed by the PlayStation Blog.

If fans are selected to participate in the beta, they’ll receive an email invitation tomorrow (July 24) when it becomes available to download. Some features available during the beta phase may not be included in the final version or may undergo significant changes. The DualSense Beta allows wireless controllers to have a form of onboard memory, enabling controllers to remember where they’ve paired before and skip the tedium of pairing each time the user wants to use a different device.
Fans will be able to register up to four devices simultaneously, and easily switch between them directly from the DualSense controller. After pairing with the four simultaneous devices is complete, players can take the controller being used with a PS5 and then seamlessly switch connections to a PC to play PC games or connect it to a smartphone to enjoy Remote Play from the PS5. This enhanced flexibility allows fans to enjoy gaming freely across multiple devices, without forcing the ‘pairing tedium’ onto the user.
PS5 Dualsense Beta – How To Pair Multiple Devices
First things first, by pressing a combination of the PS button and one of the action buttons (triangle button/circle button/cross button/square button), fans can assign a device to the desired slot designated by one of the face buttons. Then, the steps are as follows:
- Make sure the light bar and player indicator on the Dualsense is switched off.
- Press and hold one of the face buttons and the PS button for over 5 seconds (this will make the light bar and player indicator flash two times).
- Enable Bluetooth on the desired connected device, and select the option to add Bluetooth devices that can be detected nearby.
- Select the Dualsense from the detected devices on the desired device you want to connect the controller to. Once the light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number to show the user it was done properly.

After pairing the Dualsense Beta-enabled controller to multiple devices, switching between them is as easy as pressing and holding one of the designated face buttons and the PS button for about 3 seconds (of course, the paired device needs to also be powered on).
While the DualSense Beta rolls out tomorrow, fans who have signed up should keep an eye on their email to find the Beta invitation if they want to participate.
