Razer has officially announced their latest entry in the smartphone market, simply named the Razer Phone.
The phone is promising to be quite the powerhouse, with a massive 4,000 mAh battery and 8 GB of RAM, but the biggest selling point for most users is the 5.72”120Hz IGZO LCD display with QSync technology that runs at 1440×2560 with a wide colour gamut and UltraMotion’s adaptive refresh technology.
QSync is Qualcomm’s version of Nvidia’s G-SYNC, a display technology that forces a video display to adapt to the framerate of the outputting device as opposed to the opposite. This, combined with the 120Hz display, is a first for the smartphone world and will offer an incredibly smooth, high-framerate viewing experience for users up to 120 fps.
Adding to the audio-visual extravaganza are front facing stereo speakers with dedicated amplifiers powered by Dolby Atmos® technology and a THX-certified USB-C audio adapter with a 24-bit digital audio convertor (DAC). There is no headphone jack.
The phone also features dual rear cameras at 12 MP AF f1.75 wide, 12 MP AF f2.6 zoom, dual PDAF, dual tone and dual LED flash with a front camera that shoots at 8 MP FF f2.0. Storage comes at 64 GB on board with an option for expandable memory via microSD card. The Razer Phone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and comes equipped with quickcharge technology.
Unsurprisingly, the phone is aimed at video game players, and in this respect Razer has partnered with big-name companies including Square Enix, BANDAI NAMCO, and several companies known more for the mobile sphere, like Tencent and Nexon.
“It’s common knowledge that I’m obsessed with my smartphones, I play a ton of games on them, and they’re my go-to for streaming content,” said Razer Co-Founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan. “We have wanted to make a phone with gaming-level tech for years, and the Razer Phone delivers in every way we imagined.”

The phone will be available for Canadians on www.Razerzone.com, with pre-orders beginning November 1, 2017, 9 p.m. GMT. 1,337 sets of the Razer Phone Special Edition with Razer’s iconic green triple-headed snake logo will be also be available at launch. The price of the phone is $699.99 USD and will drop November 17.
