Rematch Hits 1 Million Copies Sold In its First Weekend

After a successful launch day with more than one million unique players, Rematch has continued its strong start, selling one million copies in its first four days.

Just four days ago, the developers at SloClap were celebrating over one million unique players on Rematch on their opening day. After this weekend Rematch has eclipsed yet another milestone in its short life, it has sold over one million units since launch. SloClap posted on X (formerly Twitter) in celebration of the one million unique players on June 20, thanking fans for playing and saying, “We are just getting started!” That post can be seen below.

It appears SloClap was right—Rematch was just getting started. Today, the studio released another statement, announcing that the up-to-5-vs-5, arcade-style sports game has sold more than one million units since launch, surpassing another major milestone. SloClap also shared some in-game stats players have hit since release, including 11.78 million matches played, 58.58 million goals scored, 33.54 million assists and 69.12 million goalkeeper saves.

Rematch has launched to a mostly positive reception from fans on Steam, and a “Generally Favorable” 75% on Metacritic. Most fan complaints centre around laggy gameplay, bugs, performance issues and desync issues. One fan posted, “I am not able to play anymore having constant crashes even though I have tried numerous solutions listed either from the dev team or other players” to Steam, and a Reddit thread has spawned with fans complaining about chronic desync issues.

CGMagazine’s preview said, “From latency to the skill system, there are numerous things that could deter players from now until launch,” but continued with “What I’ve played so far is definitely worth the price of admission,”—and more than a million fans seem to agree.

As SloClap continues to hit new milestones, the studio has promised to keep working on fixes and improvements to Rematch to ensure the game runs smoothly for fans.
