Resident Evil Requiem Director Confirms New Story Content and Mini Game Are In The Works

After boasting over five million units sold, Resident Evil Requiem‘s Director took to social media to confirm more Requiem is coming, including a new story expansion.

Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi has taken to the X (formerly Twitter) social media platform to announce that Requiem isn’t over yet, and confirmed plans to launch a major story expansion for the game, following other additions — like a mentioned “mini game” — that are in the works. In the video message to fans, Nakanishi thanked players for the latest Resident Evil’s immense success so far.

Nakanishi said Resident Evil Requiem has sold over five million copies already, and its release date was less than two weeks ago, on February 27. The social media message is shown below.

Nakanishi said, “We are also planning to add more content,” after committing to continue fixing known bugs in the game. Nakanishi adds, “First, the much-awaited photo mode. On top of that, there’s another surprise coming around May. We’re planning to add a mini-game. We hope to continue providing support on Resident Evil Requiem to live up to its positive reception.” Nakanishi then dropped a bombshell by revealing a photo (after comically shuffling through what appeared to be numerous scrapped storyline ideas) that shows “Resident Evil Requiem Story Expansion Now in Development,” while saying, “We are planning to make extra story content!”

Resident Evil Requiem Hands-On Preview: The Duality Of Evil

While Nakanishi didn’t give details on the expansion, the story of Resident Evil Requiem will continue, and a mini-game is coming. Although no details were confirmed regarding the mini-game, fans have speculated it’s another rendition of the popular horde-like Mercenaries mode (included in Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6), but it’s also possible it could be a return to Versus Mode from Resident Evil 5, or something new entirely. The devil’s in the details, and fans will have to wait to hear more when CAPCOM is ready.
