Resident Evil Requiem Will Reportedly Focus On Action For Leon's Gameplay

New Resident Evil Requiem leaks revealed multiple timelines, and most of Leon S. Kennedy’s gameplay will primarily focus on action.

Rumours continue to circulate the upcoming zombie-horror Capcom game, as its main character returns to Raccoon City. New Resident Evil Requiem leaks revealed multiple timelines, and most of Leon S. Kennedy’s gameplay will primarily focus on action. Additionally, it has been said that players will feature multiple playable characters, with Leon being one of them. Capcom has not confirmed this game feature, but one insider provided more information about Leon’s gameplay expected in the game.

A new post by DuskGolem on (formerly Twitter) states that “most (but not all) of Leon’s gameplay is set in 2020, while most (but not all) of Grace Ashcroft’s gameplay is set in 2028.” Moreover, the insider states that Leon will have “greyed hair” in Resident Evil Requiem and his gameplay will have “more action-focus BUT will be more focused on horror & atmospherics” when compared to Resident Evil 4.

The insider also spoke about over-the-top stuff being cut down, explaining that there will be over-the-top stuff, but nothing on the level of “Salazar’s statue in RE4 or the Heisenberg cyber zombies & mecha tank fight in RE8.” The tweet also features a video discussing further Requeim Leon leaks by DuskGolem. In good old Capcom, players can hope to expect funny stuff like Chris Redfield punching a giant boulder or Leon doing unnecessary backflips to be included in Resident Evil Requiem.

The video adds that Leon’s gameplay does not feature an open world, but includes a few large levels. Leon also has a vehicle that he uses to travel in “at least one of the levels.” This is on brand for the last few games and Resident Evil 4. DuskGolem has also heard in the grapevine that Leon will be revealed for Resident Evil Requiem at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, accompanied by a new trailer, and pre-orders will go live then as well; however, none of their direct sources are privy to Capcom’s marketing plans.

So far, there has been no news on Grace’s gameplay, other than that her timeline will reportedly take place in 2028. For those who did not catch it yet, Grace is the daughter of the Raccoon City reporter/investigator, Alyssa Ashcroft, who survived the city’s outbreak and bombing in 1998. A newspaper clipping in Resident Evil 7 also features Alyssa’s name, which shows that the news came out in January 2016. Alyssa is a playable character in Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File #2.

The only solid information about Grace is that she works for the FBI, and is tasked to investigate the mysterious death at the Wrenwood Hotel—the same place her mother died eight years before. If the Resident Evil Requiem leaks are correct, Leon could be tied to Alyssa’s impending death. Maybe she could be the first person Leon loses as he gets older on the job. Or does Leon die with her? No legacy character has been killed off yet, so is that the shock value the franchise needs? Nothing about the leaks is solid until Capcom reveals it, so we will all have to wait and see.
