During today’s online showcase, Aniplex and JOYCITY revealed the mobile title, Resident Evil Survival Unit, and announced it will be released globally this year.
Aniplex surprisingly announced a new Resident Evil title, and it appears CAPCOM has no development involvement aside from overseer duties. The brand-new mobile strategy game co-developed with JOYCITY Corporation is called Resident Evil Survival Unit, and it is a free-to-play title that allows fans to recruit iconic characters from across the entire Resident Evil universe. The game boasts it “offers a fresh, mobile-first gameplay experience that diverges from the traditional survival horror format of the main series.”

- Resident Evil Survival Unit allows players to connect and compete in real time across the globe, and sports a strategic depth known to the mobile platform.
- The title is set in a parallel world where familiar characters from the original mainline series return in a new storyline that explores novel developments and adventures alongside those iconic characters.
- For the first time in franchise history, Resident Evil fans can make dream teams of the mainline series protagonists as the parallel world allows Resident Evil 4 protagonist Leon S. Kennedy to team up with Alyssa Ashcroft from Outbreak and the newly announced Resident Evil 9: Requiem for the first time. It may also allow other confrontations like Leon and the series’ big bad Albert Wesker, to meet for the first time.
