Riot Games, best known for League of Legends, released a statement today, addressing and outlining their “first steps forward”, in a response to a Kotaku article that shed light on numerous sexual harassment allegations from both men and women employees over at Riot Games.

The Kotaku article, which was posted on August 7, 2018, consisted of 28 individual accounts of some form of sexual harassment, from both current and former men and women workers. The lengthy article details various points, including, discriminatory hiring practices, workplace toxicity, and sexual harassment, including an illusion to rape in recruiting material for Riot.

Today, Riot released a statement regarding the numerous claims, outright admitting to their faults and addressing the company’s steps forward. An excerpt from Riot’s blog post can be read below:

“We’re committed to do things the right way, and we know the change we need isn’t going to happen overnight. We are taking everything we’ve learned from Rioters and leading culture-change experts, and we are starting to develop a plan with substance.

Rioters have told us that the steps we have taken thus far aren’t enough, and we agree. The issues we face are serious, and to drive this change, we need to fully understand the root of the issues. This transformation is going to be the source of our future strength as a company. To get there, we need to evolve our culture, while preserving the good things that we think make Riot special.”

Riot’s post goes in depth into how the company plans on reevaluating themselves, outlining steps that the company has taken, in order to ensure a more professional working environment, moving forward.
