SUNSOFT has just released the co-op cooking game, Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant, to Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam!
Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant is officially available now on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam. Players will be able to dive into the game for $38.99 as early as today. The game is a return to 1988’s Ripple Island, which was released for the Famicom. 2025’s version brings back beloved characters in full 3D, with a cooking game-style story.
The game can be played online or locally in the main mode “Minna de Restaurant” (Everyone’s Restaurant). With up to 16 players online, four offline, or 1-8 in couch co-op, Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant is co-op, cooking chaos. In this mode, players will divide into roles like Kitchen, Hall, Farmer, and Treasure and work together collecting ingredients, preparing dishes, delivering to customers, cleaning the hall, and taking care of pets.
Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant also features solo content! Players can experience the game as a “‘one-person operation’ (often referred to as oni no one-ope or ‘demon’s solo operation’ in Japanese).” This mode includes fishing, growing vegetables, cooking, and serving customers.

The game recently had a closed beta test, where feedback implies that this game is tougher than it looks. The press release notes that people considered the gameplay in Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant very SUNSOFT-like, with comments like “The difficulty is too high!” and “extremely challenging.” Despite the possible difficulty, the game is rated for all ages, but Nintendo Switch 2 players will require an online subscription to play online co-op.
Players interested in Ripple Island: Kyle and Cal’s Restaurant can get the game now for $38.99 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam. They can also keep up to date on SUNSOFT’s official website, X account or YouTube.
