Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki says that while “tens of millions” of people have “amazing experiences” on the Roblox platform, parents should ban their kids if worried about platform safety.
The massively popular create-and-play platform Roblox just informed parents that if they have concerns about young children using the site, they should not allow them access. The platform has faced security issues before, so CEO Dave Baszucki addressed concerns while speaking to the BBC. When asked directly what his message is to parents who don’t want their children using the platform, Baszucki said, “My first message would be, if you’re not comfortable, don’t let your kids be on Roblox.”

Roblox announced that it expanded safety protocols and designed more safety tools to protect younger gamers in November 2024. At the time, the platform promised further changes would be made to stop children under 13 from directly messaging others outside of games.
Interactions were set to be limited to public messages within games for safety, and children under nine would be prohibited from seeing certain areas of the site.
Before the updated safety protocols, a Bloomberg report revealed that Roblox had reported 13,316 instances of child exploitation on the platform in 2023, with more than two dozen people arrested for inappropriate conduct.
Chief safety officer Matt Kaufman said, “We’ve spent nearly two decades building strong safety systems, but we know there’s always more to be done,” adding, “As our platform has grown in scale, we have always recognized that our approach to safety must evolve with it.”

While Roblox appears to be trying to fix security risks on its platform, CEO Dave Baszucki said, “We do in the company take the attitude that any bad, even one bad incident, is one too many,” when explaining why he thinks abstaining from the platform can be the best practice for concerned parents. While Baszucki believes Roblox can manage safety and encourage friendship between its users, he said parents who are worried should stop their kids from playing.
