The initial announcement for RoboCop: Rogue City listed the Nintendo Switch as a release platform back since the July 2021 reveal announcement, but now it seems it has been quietly cancelled on Switch.

In the initial gameplay trailer released Summer of 2022 from RoboCop: Rogue City, the Nintendo Switch icon can be seen on the bottom of the screen next to the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series S/X and PS5 logos, and not only has the icon been lifted in the latest trailer that aired in August 2023, the official RoboCop: Rogue City Facebook has finally ripped off the band-aid that a Switch version is no longer happening.

On a Facebook post celebrating the successful demo rollout for Rogue City, User Jon Neale asked, “Still no update or mention of the switch version? Is it canned? Just come out and tell us!” to which the official RoboCop: Rogue City account replied, “At this moment, we don’t have any plans for a Nintendo Switch release.” This effectively takes away any chances the game has to arrive on the Nintendo platform.

While no reason has been provided for the abrupt cancellation, fans can look to other Nintendo Switch titles that have launched to negative effect. Fans have admonished the $70 price tag on the Mortal Kombat 1 Nintendo Switch version and have called the version of the title “disrespectful.” While it could be speculated that the developers at Teyon are attempting to stop an issue from a potential Switch port before it happens, it still remains unconfirmed until they officially give a reason for the quiet cancellation of the Switch RoboCop, which they haven’t yet.

RoboCop: Rogue City launches on November 2nd for Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC. Fans can head over to the official game website for more information, including how Peter Weller is reprising his iconic role in the video game.
