Team17 Digital and Crowbar Collective announced their new tactical shooter game, Rogue Point, today, offering some key features behind it.

From the creators of Half Life’s fan-made HD remake Black Mesa, a new first-person rogue-lite tactical co-op shooter has just been announced. Team17 Digital and Crowbar Collective are collaborating to bring the new tac-shooter called Rogue Point to PC. The game appears to play like Rainbow Six Siege but with a rogue-lite twist. Rogue Point can be wishlisted on Steam now.

Here is the official description of Rogue Point: “The CEO, the richest man in the world, is dead. Cutthroat conglomerates seek to carve up his kingdom. Using the MERX app, rival businessmen can order private mercenary armies as easily as ordering takeout! Only Rogue Point, an elite, independent vigilante squad, dares to fight back.”

This could be a nice change of pace for competitive tactical shooters and leaning more towards the co-op experience. Players can team up with up to three other friends to take on these challenging missions and build up experience as a team. The rogue-lite elements are said to add a dynamic layer to the game, similar to games like Vampire Survivors, Endless Dungeon and Enter the Gungeon.

So why has Team17 Digital taken on such a different collaborative project with Crowbar Collective for Rogue Point? Ann Hurley, General Manager at Team17 Digital, shared that “Team17 has had amazing success in the shooter genre, and we’re delighted to offer another incredible title in that space by teaming up with FPS veterans, Crowbar Collective. We’ve seen the high quality they brought to Black Mesa, and together, we know Rogue Point will take things to the next level.” Team17’s last shooter success has been with Hell Let Loose.

Here is a list of highlighted features on the new rogue-lite tac-shooter:

  • Unlock cosmetics, weapons and campaign modifiers to create loadouts specific to the needs of the mission.
  • Plan and shoot your way through a dynamic campaign, where no two playthroughs are alike.
  • Each MERX class presents a unique threat, that challenges you in new and surprising ways.
  • Evolve operators’ skills, interacting with the rogue-lite element of the game.
  • Gather Intel, plan your assault, and adapt your strategy along the way. Fight your way through missions spread across 4 diverse locations, with each map reshaped by the game’s Parametric Design System, offering new strategies and challenges with every play.

While Crowbar Collective’s now-full development team cannot reveal too many details on the game yet, they have noted their thanks for Team17’s support. Additionally, they explained how they “want to heavily involve the community” in the development and updates to Rogue Point. One of the reasons Black Mesa succeeded was because “[the] community was critical in the Early Access of Black Mesa, and having Team 17 as a partner for Rogue Point helps us focus on development and community feedback,” said CEO and Project Lead Adam Engels.

There is no official release date or Early Access date listed for Rogue Point yet. However, it can be wishlisted now on Steam.
