At today’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event new details were announced about the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, including new features, specs and pricing!
CGMagazine was able to join Samsung in San Jose, California at their Galaxy Unpacked event where new details surrounding the S25 Series smartphones were revealed. Samsung has consistently been a household name as a smartphone provider, and with the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, fans of the brand are sure to be happy.

Starting off with style, the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series comes in a variety of colourways. The S25 and S25+ both come in Silver Shadow, Navy, Icy Blue and Mint, with the S25 Ultra coming in Titanium Black, Titanium Grey, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Silverblue. The team at the company noted that this switch to cool, blue tones not only harkens back to the early days of Samsung, but is also a nod to Samsung AI. There are also some www.samsung.com exclusive colours, including the S25 Ultra’s Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Jadegreen, and the S25+ and S25’s Blueblack, Coralred and Pinkgold.

On site, I was able to learn about a few of the new tools coming to the S25 series, and I am happy to say that these features are not just locked to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra; you can also find them on the S25 and S25+. First up is Now Bar and Now Brief, which are tools to help you with your day. The bar or widget will use Samsung AI to learn about you, and will essentially summarize any information you need that day like weather and appointments, and can be programmed with options like Health & Wellness, News, Smart Home Routines and more.
For content creators out there, there are a few new features. First, Log (Logarithmic Profile) is now available when recording footage, giving you more options for editing in post—the creators in the room were excited about this one. Second is Audio Eraser, a setting that allows you to remove unwanted sound or background noise from a video with ease. In the example we were shown, it seemed to work quite well, and it will be a valuable tool for anyone capturing on the Samsung Galaxy S25 smartphones.
Generative Edit is another feature which will be helpful for photo editing, allowing you to remove unwanted, people, items or even shadows with the touch of a button, rather than needing to precisely lasso around the things you want removed. I was able to see this in action, and the feature worked almost flawlessly removing trees, or even removing people and taking note to remove their shadows as well without being prompted.

Call recording is now an onboard feature with the S25 series, allowing you to ethically record phone calls (it notifies both parties). The device saves an audio file of your call that you can use for transcription or reference later. Finally, my favourite feature, Best Face. This tool will be invaluable to almost anyone, but especially those of us with kids!
Basically, when you take a photo, a “motion photo” will be taken, and you can jump back into the picture, and adjust your face to a point where you weren’t blinking, sneezing or looking the wrong way. All you need to do is tap on the face of the person you want to adjust, and you’ll see a small scrolling bar to choose the best look.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series smartphones will also feature Storage Share, allowing you to access your files from your Samsung laptop anywhere, and vice versa. All you need to do is ensure both devices are on, and you will have access to the files you need when you need them. As is the trend with modern smartphones, Google’s Gemini also had a presence, showing just how helpful it can be in your day to day. Though Gemini isn’t exclusive to Samsung, it was clear that this will remain a feature of note in 2025 smartphone launches, and Samsung is keeping up with current trends in AI.
All three devices feature the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12 GB of RAM, and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has also seen a bump to its ultrawide rear camera, now at 50MP from the S24 Ultra’s 12MP, and the display is now 6.9” up from 6.8” in the S24 Ultra. All devices have also dropped in weight, with the S24 Ultra being the biggest difference, from 232/233 grams to 218g, bringing it much closer to the OnePlus 13’s 210/213g options, and under the iPhone 16 Pro Max at 227g.
That was not all, though. Samsung managed to surprise audiences and press alike with the announcement of a new phone in the S25 lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. This new model looks to expand on the already existing range by pushing the boundaries of design. It boasts being “unlike anything you have seen before.” Even from the few details revealed at Unpacked, it sounds like an interesting entry in the lineup and further expands the concepts Samsung is planning to bring to market this time around.
