In a shocking announcement at SGF 2026, the iconic puppet Billy took to the stage to inform Geoff Keighley of a brand new entry in the SAW series—this time in video game form.
While the trailer itself was sparse on details, SAW: Genesis will be a 3v1 Multiplayer game developed by Bloober Team. One player becomes the Judge, a precursor to Jigsaw, and three others fight to survive as the Accused. Players will be able to manipulate the trial from the shadows or work together to escape a deadly maze of traps, pressure, and impossible choices.
Set in the grim aftermath of World War I, SAW: Genesis delivers short, intense matches, oppressive atmosphere, and a twisted vision of redemption through pain and sacrifice. Unlike other asymmetrical multiplayer games, the Judge is physically vulnerable and cannot overpower the Accused through sheer force alone. However, players will still be just as vulnerable, forced to make impossible decisions as time runs out.
As players will decreases, progress becomes more difficult, and eventually you become vulnerable to becoming ensnared in one of the Judge’s intricately engineered rehabilitation traps. Every decision will have lasting consequences—Damage an arm and it will be harder to complete puzzles and fight back, Injure a leg and you’ll move slower, becoming easier to corner. Throughout the rest of a match, which are designed to be short, intense experiences.
No information was provided for a release date of SAW: Genesis, however players can Wishlist the game on Steam now. A Closed Alpha is also available for sign up.
