The Silent Hill: Townfall Transmission Reveals Terror and a New Perspective On The Franchise

Immediately following the Sony State of Play February 2026 presentation, KONAMI unleashed a Silent Hill: Townfall-based transmission, showing fans what lurks behind the curtain.

For the first time since it was unveiled via a very ominous (and gameplay-less) teaser trailer in 2022, players have finally received a closer in-depth look at Silent Hill: Townfall. The game is a spin-off, and the last of the five Silent Hill projects Konami announced in 2022. Like the previous transmission based on Silent Hill f, today’s transmission took a deep dive behind the curtain at the terror fans will face in Townfall. The whole transmission can be watched below, courtesy of the developers at Screen Burn, publisher Annapurna Interactive and KONAMI.

Unlike the previously released (and well-received Silent Hill f), Silent Hill: Townfall is set in Northern Europe. The new title embodies true terror, forcing players to look through a first-person lens for the first time, and every feature of the game has been designed with the perspective in mind. The protagonist Simon, will be able to use signature weaponry from the franchise, featuring anything they can grab, like wooden planks to fend off truly horrifying abominations.

The developers at Screen Burn Interactive wanted to both evolve the unique narrative design that they had experimented with in past games (Stories Untold, OBSERVATION) while pushing into ambitious territory with a new town to explore, horrific enemies to fight and evade, and story-driven puzzles that help deliver a new but distinctly Silent Hill tale of mystery, tragedy and loss. The transmission introduced the audience to the protagonist of Townfall, Simon Ordell, and his companion CRTV device that will help drive the story forward, even if the player is stricken with fear. The developers said the CRTV would only work with a first-person perspective, and they went all in.

Simon can lurk, sneak and peek around corners to stay hidden (similar to the OUTLAST series) while cautiously assessing situations. Not every fight in Silent Hill: Townfall is winnable, so these features help players survive and get around the horrifying spawn that lurks in the fog. Like other Hill protagonists, Simon is carrying a heavy emotional burden, and the atmosphere of the setting reflects that weight. Guilt is strongly manifested in the series, and that narrative theme will be explored here, but in a very different way.

Instead of a radio transmitter, Simon holds a small CRTV, and it will show visuals important to the story as well as feed notable information to Simon and the player as they wander through the fog of St. Amelia.

The trailer and gameplay shown so far are ominous on purpose; fans will have to uncover why Simon arrives where he is (St. Amelia), and fans will have to discover the protagonist and the setting itself to piece together mysteries. Figuring out what happened, what is happening, and what will occur leaves the player in a state of suspense, and the player will only know what Simon knows. Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in St. Amelia, a town directly inspired by Scotland (similar to Silent Hill f’s inspiration from Japan).

The east coast of Scotland, the smell, the wind, the general atmosphere of the setting is exactly what the development team was looking for when crafting the locale of Townfall, including the general fogginess of the atmosphere. These features are brought to Townfall’s St. Amelia, and the setting is brought to life by the real-life inspirations down to street corners and sitting bench placements. This focus is designed to immerse the player in what feels like a real-life location and steep the audience in the rich lore of the location St. Amelia is based on.

Annapurna Interactive closed out the transmission with the admission that, although they are known as an indie publisher, Townfall is not a small game. Townfall is a full-length title on par with previous releases and a true collaboration between KONAMI, Screen Burn and Annapurna Interactive, and it is Annapurna Interactive’s “biggest title yet.”

Silent Hill: Townfall is coming in 2026, and it can be wishlisted on PS5, Steam and the Epic Games Store today!
