“The man who refuses to die” returns in a new bloody action adventure. A new red band trailer for Sisu: Road to Revenge dropped today, highlighting that the next villain is Stephen Lang (Don’t Breathe). Jorma Tommila also returns to play the Finnish protagonist, alongside director Jalmari Helander. Audiences and critics praised the original film for its high-octane action, like John Wick meets Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds.
Sisu: Road to Revenge is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event and a sequel to the sleeper hit Sisu. Returning to the house where his family was murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die,” Aatami Korpi, dismantles it, loads it on a truck and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honour. When the Red Army commander who killed his family, Lang, comes back intent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase unfolds: a fight to the death filled with clever, unbelievable action set pieces.
The trailer shows Aatami blasting soldiers across roads, sending motorbikes into flames, firing a World War II–era bazooka-style weapon, taking down war planes and getting bloodier than ever before. It ends with him aboard a train carrying a warhead missile, leaving viewers to wonder what he plans to do with it. The Sisu: Road to Revenge poster depicts Aatami standing on all the aforementioned vehicles, holding two machine guns.
Lang fits seamlessly into this brutal world, having portrayed many iconic villains, from the Avatar films to Don’t Breathe. Pitting Aatami against Lang’s Red Army commander promises no shortage of entertainment. Known for embracing physical challenges in his roles, Lang’s performance will be a treat for action-movie fans.
The original 2023 film Sisu introduced a solitary prospector in the final, desperate days of the Second World War, as he crossed paths with a ruthless group of Nazis. When they stole his gold, they soon discovered they had tangled with no ordinary miner. They severely underestimated him, and the lengths he would go — and the number he would kill — to get it back.

As of writing, Rotten Tomatoes has Sisu at a 94% from critics and 88% from audiences. Even legendary video game designer Hideo Kojima posted a message on X in 2023, praising the film. His post read: “This is no longer a war movie. It is a MAD grind of a battle between terribly cool men. A lot of fight ideas that surpass Rambo, the immortal old man!” Kojima’s message concluded with him expressing interest in creating a game about Aatami.
