Sony Gives Fans a First Look at the Until Dawn Movie Adaptation

Tick Tock, Time To Try Again!

Sony Has Shared A First Look Into Until Dawn Movie

Sony Pictures Entertainment has shared with the fans the first look into the upcoming film, Until Dawn, based on the hit interactive game released on the PS4.

Since it was announced in January 2024, fans of the Until Dawn game have been eager to learn more details about the upcoming film adaptation. Luckily, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a trailer that gives a first look at the movie.

Kicking off the trailer, Gary Dauberman, Writer and Producer of the Until Dawn film mentioned how they could make a movie about continuing the story without making the same experience that fans have been playing since 2015, with the director, David F. Sandberg chiming in about despite sharing the same tone and vibe, the movie expands on the lore in an interesting way. Not to mention, fans would be pleased to see Peter Stormare as he returns to playing Dr.Hill from the game and mentioned how happy he is to be part of the evolution onto the screen.

As we are shown glimpses of the story and somewhat meet the main cast, Sandberg shared, “One of the creative things the game did is that people make different choices and behave in different ways. The movie has this mechanic where things start over, then they try again.”, and expanding on his thought while showcasing more glimpse, “Every time they come back to live, it’s like they’re in a new horror genre. To survive, they have to make it until dawn”

This is quite interesting as we see the sand hourglass come into play as it will bring everyone back alive to try something different if they wish to survive. It leaves the fans questioning what trials will be experienced during each reset, how will they survive in the cabin that seems impossible with many previous people missing, and how will it expand on the Until Dawn lore considering it seems to be focusing on something else while the game was more about the Wendigo and how each character decision would be crucial without given a second chance.

While on the topic of Sony adapting their video games into movies, it was previously announced at the CES 2025 that Sony will be adapting Helldivers and Horizon Zero Dawn into films. Not to mention, Ghost of Tsushima will be receiving an anime adaption in collaboration with Aniplex, launching in 2027 as Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.

As the fans await more details about the upcoming film, Until Dawn recently received a remake and is available now on PS5 and PC, great to play in the meantime before the movie’s release in April 2025.
